Chapter 30 Taytra Taytra stood by the wall, shivering as the wind blew through the streets and up to the rooftop party. It was a larger gathering than she and Ward had expected, but that was good, wasn’t it? It meant more people would know their story. “Have you heard about the people by the gate?” one woman in a wine-colored dress said as she passed Taytra. The other woman gasped. “Yes! Can you believe what has happened to them? They must have been so crazy to think that leaving their home would help. They should have just done what we have and stayed put. Leaving never has helped anyone.” She opened her mouth to say something when Ward laid a hand on her arm. “Just wait. There will be plenty more like those two tonight. Don’t burn yourself out talking to people who can’t help us yet.
