“Guards.” Nurzan didn’t look away from her, his eyes a storm of anger waiting to be unleashed. The door opened, and he flicked them the slightest glance of acknowledgment. “Separate these two. We are going to go about this differently.”
Shauna did everything she could to keep her gaze locked with the Dark Ones, even as they wrenched her shoulders and pulled her out of the chair. She didn’t fight them, but she didn’t go willingly. He nodded to himself as the door snapped shut, as if whatever fight she displayed was what he expected. Did he play me for a fool? Did I fall into a trap? No, that was genuine anger in those eyes.
