Chapter 12 Jamie
Jamie cracked his eyes open, sleep trying desperately to pull them shut again. He sat up, running a hand over his face. Moraine lay still. It must have been nothing, he thought, settling back down, trying to reclaim whatever position had been somewhat comfortable. Then he heard it, the slamming of boots on stone, becoming louder with each thump.
It must have been nothingHe sat up once more, moving across the room. “Moraine. Moraine, wake up,” he whispered gently, shaking the queen. A guard hit the door with a loud bang, followed by the sound of keys jingling in the lock.
“Get up, both of you!” the guard said, flinging the door open. Two Dark Ones hurried inside, pulling the captives from the room.
