Chapter 13 Taytra Taytra’s eyes snapped open. It was dark. Shadows danced around the walls as she jolted to her feet, heart hammering in shock. Someone was here. She panicked and flung her chair backward and the blanket that hung around her shoulders away from her. Her arm hit someone as she spun away, her fingers scrabbling at her waist to find her knife. Someone was here.“Whoa! Whoa! Tay!” Ward said, hands up as he jumped away from her. “Goddess, I think I need to tell Andrew to lay off on those lessons for a bit.” He laughed breathily. “Damn it! Ward, you can’t do that,” she snapped, bending to pick up the chair. Air rushed through her lips in a hiss as pain lanced up her side. “Is that still hurting you a lot?” Ward moved to her side, but Taytra waved him off. “Let me get that.”
