CHAPTER 4: ILL KEEP YOU SAFE

1201 Words
Felix pulled a phone from his jacket pocket and showed her a photo. It showed James and Maya at an airport, looking very happy while carrying large suitcases. "He fled to Bali with your savings. He's enjoying himself in a luxury villa while you almost died a pathetic death in a narrow alley," Felix said in a calm. "Do you want me to destroy them for you?" Megan fell silent, her hands clenched so tight her nails turned white. An intense hatred burned in her chest seeing that photo. James had really done it to her. The man she had loved for five years had the heart to leave her in poverty for the sake of her own best friend. "You... you can do that?" Megan asked with a trembling voice. "I can do anything, Megan. I can make them beg for mercy at your feet. I can make them lose everything, even worse than what you're feeling now," Felix looked at her with a predatory smile. "But everything has a price.” "What is the price?" Felix took Megan’s hand, kissing the back of it with a very possessive and intimate gesture. His eyes remained locked on hers, offering both a promise and a threat. "The price you must pay is your freedom. You stay here, with me. You become mine, and I will give you a world you never imagined. I will protect you from anyone, including your trashy past," Felix whispered right against Megan’s lips. Megan felt her world spinning. The offer was incredibly tempting but also terrifying. On one hand, she wanted revenge on James and Maya. On the other, she knew she was dealing with a devil and a very cunning one."Why? Why me?" Megan asked softly. Felix paused for a moment, looking at Megan with a gaze that suddenly turned very obsessive. "Because only you were brave enough to tell me not to die while calling me a 'bastard' in the middle of the rain. I like that. And what I like, I must possess." Suddenly, the mansion's security alarm blared loudly. Gunshots echoed from a distance, followed by an explosion that shook the window panes. "What's happening?!" Megan panicked, immediately standing up and looking outside. "My enemies don't like that I'm still alive," Felix said calmly, as if it weren't a big deal. He pressed a button on the arm of his wheelchair. "Stay behind me, Megan." The bedroom door was kicked open from the outside. Several men in civilian clothes with face masks entered, pointing machine guns. "Felix Orlando! Time for you to join your father in hell!" one of them shouted. Megan screamed in terror as a hail of bullets began to rain down on the room. Felix skillfully spun his wheelchair behind a large bulletproof sofa, pulling Megan down to take cover with him. "Stay down, Baby! Don't you dare lift your head!" Felix barked while pulling a pistol from behind a sofa cushion. "Felix! We're going to die!" Megan cried loudly, covering her ears from the deafening gunshots. "Not as long as you're with me!" Felix began returning fire with incredible accuracy. "I told you, you're mine! And I won't let what's mine get a single scratch!” In the middle of the rain of bullets and flying glass, Megan saw the other side of the real Felix. The man wasn't just a mafia boss; he was a highly trained monster. Every bullet he fired hit its target precisely. "Move in! Finish him!" the attacker shouted again. One of the attackers managed to get close and kicked Felix's wheelchair until it toppled. Felix fell to the floor, his wound reopening and fresh blood beginning to seep through his new white shirt. "Felix!" Megan screamed as she saw an attacker point a weapon directly at the head of the weakened Felix. "Die, Orlando!" Megan didn't think twice. She grabbed a large ceramic vase nearby and threw it with all her strength at the attacker's head. The vase shattered into pieces, making the attacker stagger in shock. Felix didn't waste the opportunity. He pulled the attacker's leg until he fell and immediately shot him in the chest twice without hesitation. Blood splattered everywhere even on Megan's face, warm and metallic. Megan froze, her breath hitching, her eyes wide as she stared at the corpse in front of her. This was the first time she had seen someone killed in person, and she was part of the cause. She began to feel dizzy the smell of blood, bodies everywhere. Felix crawled toward Megan, ignoring the pain in his stomach. He grabbed Megan's face with his blood-stained hands, forcing her to look at him. "Look at me, Megan! Look at me!" Felix barked.Shandra stared at him, her body shaking violently. Her tears flowed uncontrollably. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?!" He asked with a tone that sounded genuinely worried, a stark contrast to the cruelty he had just shown. "I... I..." Megan couldn't speak; she could only point at the corpse. "He can't hurt you anymore. I told you, I will protect you," Felix said. He pulled Megan into his arms, hugging her so tightly as if she were his only anchor in the world. The sound of Felix's men's footsteps approached. The room was soon filled with his security forces, who looked like they were coming from a world war. "Master! Are you alright?!" the team leader asked anxiously. Felix didn't release his hug on Megan. Instead, he buried his face deeper into the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent which calmed him amidst the smell of gunpowder and blood. "Clean everything up. Leave nothing behind," Felix ordered coldly. "And prepare the car. We're moving to the second safehouse right now." "Yes, Master." Felix loosened his hug slightly and looked at the still-shocked Megan. He wiped the blood off her cheek with his thumb; his movement was now very gentle but filled with absolute possessiveness. "Now you understand, don't you, Megan? My world is dangerous. But in this world, you are my queen. No one is allowed to touch you without my permission," Felix whispered.Megan looked into Felix's dark, flashing eyes. She realized one thing: her escape from James had led her into the arms of a monster far more dangerous. "Let's go," Felix said as he tried to stand with the help of the sofa, though his face winced in pain. Megan reflexively reached out, helping Felix stand and supporting him. She didn't know what would happen next, but she knew her old life was over. As they walked out of the room, Megan looked back one last time. She saw the bodies and blood splattered everywhere. She felt nauseous, but she kept walking, following Felix. "Felix..." Megan called softly once they were inside the private elevator heading to the basement. "Yeah?" Felix turned, his breath still ragged and heavy. "Are you really going to destroy James?" Megan asked, a glint of vengeance beginning to light up her eyes. Felix smiled, a smile that was terrifying yet felt very sweet to Megan's ears at that moment. "I'm going to make him regret ever being born into this world, Megan. That's my promise.”
