"It's hard because I'm not free! I don't want to be your pet!" Megan glared. "Give me back my phone! I want to contact my family!"
"Family? You have a family? Aren't you all alone in the world, recently discarded by the only person you considered family?" Felix asked with a mocking tone that made Megan want to cry again.
"You... you're a stalker, aren't you? How do you know everything about me?!"
"I am Felix Orlando. There isn't a secret I can't uncover within five minutes." Felix leaned back in his wheelchair, looking Megan up and down. "That dress suits you. You look more human than you did in those rags you were wearing yesterday."
"Wow, you're incredibly arrogant! I bought those 'rags' with my own hard-earned money! Unlike you, who gets money from shooting people!"
"From shooting people? You're funny." Felix gave a thin laugh, but there was no warmth in his eyes. "Do you have any idea who you saved yesterday? I can make your life like heaven, or I can make it worse than the hell you experienced with that James guy."
"I don't need your heaven! I just want a quiet life!"
"Peace is expensive, Megan. And the price is your obedience." Felix moved his wheelchair forward again, forcing Megan to back up until she hit the edge of the bed. "From this day forward, you are not to leave this room without my permission. You are not to contact anyone. And you... will obey whatever I ask."
"What?! You're insane! This is s*****y! I refuse!"
"You refuse? Fine. Feel free to leave." Felix pointed toward the door, which was now slightly ajar. "But don't blame me if the moment you step outside those gates, your head gets a hole in it from a sniper. I won't bother picking up your corpse."
Megan went silent. She looked at the door, then back at Felix. She knew he wasn't joking. The aura around this man was incredibly heavy, filled with a pressure that made it hard to breathe.
"Why are you doing this, Felix? Why not just let me go and pretend we don't know each other?" Megan’s voice softened, tinged with desperation.
Felix was silent for a long moment, his eyes fixed on her with a strange intensity. "Because you held my hand when everyone else wanted to let go. I'm not used to being in someone's debt. And my way of repaying a debt is my own. Which is by possessing you completely."
"That's not repaying a debt, that's called an obsession, you i***t!"
"Call it whatever you want. The point is, you're safe here. And as for cheater fiance... what do you want done with him? I can send him to his grave this very afternoon if you want."
Megan was startled. Her grudge was still burning, but hearing him talk about killing someone like he was discussing a lunch menu terrified her. "I... I don't want to be a murderer."
"You won't be the murderer. My hands will be the ones getting dirty, not yours. You just have to say 'yes,' and tomorrow you'll see the news in the papers that your ex-fiancé was found dead in a gruesome manner."
"No! Don't do that!" She screamed spontaneously.
Felix raised an eyebrow. "Why? Do you still love that piece of trash?"
"No! It's not that! I just... I want him to suffer, but not by being killed like that! That's too easy for him!" Megan clenched her fists.
Felix gave a crooked smile. "Interesting. It turns out you have a dark side too. Fine, I'll save him for later. So you can see for yourself how he falls to pieces."
"Whatever! Right now, I want to eat. I'm starving!" Megan gave in, sitting on the edge of the bed and grabbing the bowl of soup Sulli had brought. "But don't think for a second I'm going to enjoy being here! I'll find a way to escape!"
Felix didn't respond to Megan's threat. He just watched her eat ravenously, like someone who hadn't eaten in a year. There was a flash of satisfaction in Felix's eyes seeing Megan start to calm down, even if only temporarily.
"Eat up. You're far too thin, like you're malnourished," Felix said flatly.
"Shut up! The soup is bland; there's no MSG in it!" Megan complained while continuing to shovel the soup into her mouth.
"MSG is poison. No one in this house is allowed to eat garbage."
"Ugh, you're so stiff! No wonder someone shot you! Your enemies probably hate you because you nag them about MSG, don't they?!" Megan spoke bluntly; she no longer cared about manners.
Felix remained silent as he turned his wheelchair to leave the room. At the threshold, he stopped briefly without looking back.
"Tomorrow morning, I'll have my personal doctor check that temple of yours. Don't try to fight or kick my doctor, or you'll face the consequences."
"Yeah, yeah! You're so noisy! Just go already, I want to eat in peace!" Megan waved him off. Felix exited the room. Shandra heard the sound of the key turning again from the outside. Click. Click. Two turns.
"Dammit! He really locked it again!" Megan slammed her spoon into the bowl. "Hey! Felix! Don't lock it! I'm not a thief!"
There was no reply. Megan stood up, ran to the door, and tried to pull the handle. It remained firm. She kicked the door with all her might. "You bastard, I hope you get boils for seven generations! Open up! Help!!!"
In the corridor outside, Felix stood still, listening to Megan's screams. He felt the wound in his abdomen throb again, but a slight smirk played on his lips. He felt his life, which was usually monotonous and filled with blood, suddenly become more colorful because of that wild girl.
"Sir, should I prepare a sedative for the Miss?" asked a guard standing by the door.
"No need. Let her scream until she's tired. Just make sure she doesn't have any sharp objects in the room," Aiden ordered coldly.
"Understood, sir."
Felix left, leaving Megan still pounding on the door like someone possessed. He entered his dark study and turned on a large monitor showing the CCTV inside Megan's room. He watched as Megan finally gave up and sat weakly on the floor, hugging her knees.
"You think you can escape from me, Kitten?" Aiden murmured softly while staring at the screen with an obsessive gaze. "I've lost many things in this life. And now that I've found you, I won't let you go, no matter what it takes."
Inside the room, Megan felt like she was being watched. She looked up, searching every corner of the room until her eyes found a small black dot in the corner of the ceiling.
"A camera?! Wow, this guy is truly insane! Hey, psycho! I know you're watching me from there! You p*****t! You creep! You think I'm some kind of show?!" Megan stood up, grabbed a pillow, and threw it at the camera, but she missed because the ceiling was too high.
"Open the door, you bastard! I want to go home! I hate you! I hate this place! Help!!!" Megan started crying again, her voice growing hoarser.Time passed. Night began to fall, and Megan felt increasingly lonely inside the luxurious room that felt like a prison. She tried to open the window again, but it remained tightly locked with an electronic system she didn't understand.
Suddenly, the lights in the room dimmed automatically, leaving only a faint bedside lamp. She immediately ran to the bed, pulling the silk blanket over her head. "I'm scared... I'm so scared..."
As she was trying to sleep amidst her fear, she heard a whispered voice from the intercom on the wall beside the bed.
"Go to sleep, Megan. Tomorrow is going to be a long day for you."
It was Felix’s voice. A cold voice, but for some reason, it made her feel like someone was watching over her. Megan tightened her grip on the blanket.
Megan finally fell asleep. She had nightmares about James laughing with Maya on top of a pile of her money, while she drowned in a black sea full of sharks. But in that dream, a hand suddenly pulled her to the surface. A hand covered in scars, but with a grip that was incredibly strong.
The next morning, Megan woke up to the sound of a commotion outside her room. She immediately sat bolt upright, her eyes alert.
"Open the door! I want to see her right now!" The voice wasn't Felix’s. It was a woman's voice, sounding arrogant and sharp.
"Forgive me, Miss Kiara. Mr. Felix has forbidden anyone from entering without his permission," the guard's voice sounded strained.
"Get out of my way! I am his fiancée! You dare stop me from seeing the w***e Felix picked up from the trash?!"
Megan's eyes widened. A w***e from the trash?
Heh, that mouth needs some chili peppers! Megan immediately got out of bed and waited in front of the door.
SLAM!
The door burst open. A stunningly beautiful woman, dressed in designer clothes from head to toe, entered with a face flushed red with rage. Behind her, two guards looked confused about how to stop her.
"Ooh, so this is the piece of junk Felix went through the trouble of bringing here?" the woman looked at Megan with a look of utter contempt, her hand already raised to…
SMACK!
The sound echoed off the high, gold-leafed ceilings like a gunshot. Megan’s head snapped to the side, her vision momentarily blurring into a kaleidoscope of white sparks and jagged shadows. A sharp, stinging heat radiated across her cheek, followed quickly by a throb that pulsed in time with her frantic heartbeat. She tasted copper—a small tear in the inside of her beautiful lip where her teeth had caught the flesh.
"Who the hell are you?! You just show up and slap me?!" Megan’s voice cracked, raw with a mixture of shock and burgeoning fury. She clutched her burning face, her eyes flashing like a trapped animal finally finding its teeth. "What’s your problem with me, huh?! I don’t even know you!"
Kiara didn’t flinch. She stared down at Megan with a look of utter, glacial contempt. Her eyes were like polished emeralds—beautiful, hard, and devoid of any human warmth. "I’m Kiara Romano. I am a name your shadow should respect.
“And I’m warning you, don’t ever think for a single, delusional second that you can replace me in Felix's heart! “You are just a temporary play toy, he'll dispose you once his done f*****g you.! Kiara screamed like a mad woman
"Replace you?" Megan let out a jagged, hysterical laugh.
“If your really his ‘precious fiancee‘ why is he hanging out with other women huh”?
Megan asked.
Kiara’s lips curled into a sardonically cruel smile. She stepped closer, her perfume—something heavy, like oud and wilting roses—suffocating the space between them. "Oh, you’re brave, aren't you? Or perhaps just incredibly stupid. Felix has… an expensive tastes. He likes new toys, especially the ones that fight back. But let me tell you a secret, Megan. Once he’s poked and prodded at you long enough to see how you break, he’ll get bored. And when My Man gets bored, he doesn’t just walk away. He throws his toys into the darkest pit he can find. Do you really think he cares about the girl who patched up his gut? To him, you’re a curiosity. A stray dog that performed a trick.”
“To me it looks like your afraid I'll Snapchat your man away from you” Megan said just to spite her more.
“ENOUGH”
The name was spoken with a low, vibrating authority that seemed to settle the very dust in the air. Both women turned.
