A few days passed since my confrontation with Eric at his apartment, and, surprisingly, I didn’t hear from him. I thought for sure he’d call or something over the weekend, but he didn’t. With each day of no contact, I started to feel a little more confident that he understood things were over between us. But that confidence was shattered when he showed up at my house one evening. I’d been home from work for about an hour or two, and I was having a beer while trying to decide what to have for dinner when I heard the sound of someone pounding on my front door. Then the pounding was replaced by the sound of someone yelling. I went to the living room and peered out of the blinds at the front window. Eric and Gary were both standing on my porch, arguing. “Leave him alone, Eric!” Gary yelled.
