Part 7

Anna's POV I wore a simple but yet elegant Black knee length gown that fitted me perfectly. I put on light make up, since I knew I was naturally beautiful. I had my braided hair tied into a ponytail, placing a butterfly clip on it. I admired myself once more in the mirror, and was wowed... I was really blessed with a gorgeous face, and perfect features. It was no wonder many men came my way, but I certainly knew what I wanted and couldn't settle for less... I stepped out of my little apartment holding my white designers purse, with my phone. I boarded a cab heading straight to the hospital... Upon reaching there, Mark had already handled the discharge papers. Abel was leisurely seated at the corner, going through his phone, while mark was putting his stuffs together... I wore a bright smile as I approached him. His face instantly brighten upon seeing me... "Hii" I said smiling warmly at the two parties in the room... Mark simply nodded, acknowledging my presence, while Abel's gaze was fixed on me. I stood two steps away from him, casually glancing through the room making sure everything had been packed... I was still staring, when I felt a shadow loom over me. That scent... "Abel you..." "I missed you" before I could finish my words, Abel confessed, pulling me into his embrace. I felt a swirl of emotions within me... It was a tinge of joy, mixed with frustration and guilt. I wanted to push him away, but knew my character was only going to upset him... I gently pulled myself out of his embrace, wearing a warm smile, and then turned to assist Mark who was almost done parking... Before long, we stepped out of the hospital, driving straight to Abel's house... On our way, I made Abel understand that I had organized a little party to welcome him back home... He didn't say anything but his expression showed that he didn't like the idea... Once we got to his place, we walked out of the car and into the house, where Rose, Kevin, Laura, Kelly and a few other employees of Royals were already waiting... We walked into the living room and were warmly greeted by the people inside. Kevin kept his gaze fixed on me, making me feel quite uneasy... The look on his face the previous day, clearly indicated he didn't want me to help Abel. Thank God for Roy, else he wouldn't have agreed... He was still mad at me about the fact that I had our wedding postponed because of my ex... To me, this man was worth sacrificing everything for. I couldn't just help but feel a pang of jealousy for Rose. Her husband was quite ambitious and was strong willed... With that thought in mind, a small smile escaped my lips... "Sir, we're happy to have you with us, safe and sound..." Rose, said forcing a smile... Abel barely glanced at her, slightly nodding his head, before fixing his gaze on Kevin... I studied Abel's expression, his gaze turning cold, his hands slightly forming a fist. I was taken aback by his reaction. Somehow, it felt like they were fighting a cold war... With his intimidating aura, the atmosphere was tensed and awkward, everyone barely glancing at him... This was the Abel I fell in love with. If there was one person who could ease the atmosphere a little, then it was no other but me... "Abel, why don't we sit and share a meal with the others?" I asked the man whose gaze was still fixed on Kevin... He glanced at me, his expression relaxing significantly before saying... "Come with me" With that, he swiftly made his way upstairs, towards the master's bedroom... In that moment, I felt my feet go numb. It felt like I had been planted there. What was I supposed to do? Follow my ex to his bedroom infront of my fiance? I was still contemplating on wether to go or not, when he called out coldly... "Anna!" I was slightly startled, not knowing how I managed to disappear from my current position to his sight... He held my hand firmly, as if scared I was going to run away before pulling me into his bedroom... Once inside he shot the door from insight, approaching me with turtle and precise steps... ***** Kevin's POV I just left the office when I got a call from Roy, Anna's brother. He pleaded with me to come over to his place that he had something very urgent to discuss with me... The urgency in his voice left me slightly puzzled, wondering what had happened... "Hey! What's up?" I asked upon reaching his place... Roy simply smiled at me before asking... "You made it?" "Yeah" I nodded... He went to the wine bar in his house, brought out a bottle of whiskey and poured two glasses, one for himself and the other for me... Upon seeing this, I knew what he was going to say was something very sensitive... The last time Roy did this, was when my aunt, was at the verge of death. He didn't know how to spill it and had made me drink quite a bit, so I wasn't really going to feel the effect of the news... I watched him take two shots of the alcohol in his glass and was urging me to drink as well... I gulped down the whiskey in my glass, and before I knew it, I single handedly gulp down almost the entire bottle... I had a very good tolerance for alcohol, so the effect wasn't significant enough... "Spill it" I said, unable to take the suspense. Roy was probably the best yet the worst doctor I knew. Which doctor makes people drink in such a manner? "Well, you know about Abel's condition right?" He asked and I simply nodded. After all, Abel was Anna's ex, and I knew Anna was still grateful to him, though they were no longer together... "Good!" He said, before adding... "Well, the only way for him to get well is by letting Anna act like his fiancee and with time, he'll regain his memory..." I heard those words loud and clear. In that instant, my head began spinning with all sought of thoughts crossing my mind... "So..." I said, urging him to continue, though my heart throbbed aching... "So, you'll have to postpone your wedding" Roy blurted out... It didn't seem like he was asking me. Rather, it felt like he was commanding me... Despite feeling slightly dizzy due to the alcohol, I couldn't help but let out painful laugh... Before long, I shot the glass I was holding, causing it to shatter into pieces... "Who do you think you are to make such a decision? Is it because you're Anna's brother you feel you can postpone our wedding per your wish? How dare you utter such words?" I lashed out, ready to punch the man that sat before me, composed... "I managed to convince her just the way I am doing with you now, and she accepted..." Roy said, avoiding my gaze... His words made my heart skip a beat. Did Anna really accept to postpone our wedding which was barely in less than two weeks? How could she? Roy was definitely lying. I couldn't bring myself to believe him... I was about lashing out again, when the door suddenly swung open and two ladies walked in... There was Kelly and my beautiful fiancee, Anna... Upon seeing her, my heart eased a bit. "Babe, good thing you came" I said immediately she walked in giving her a hug. I didn't care if I was filled with the stench of alcohol or not... "What's going on? Why do you look so dull?" Kelly asked, staring at Roy and I also noticing the glass pieces on the floor, before finally settling her gaze at Anna. Anna didn't seem surprised at all... I glanced at Roy briefly before turning to Anna and saying... "You're brother wants us to postpone the wedding. He wants you to assist Abel on getting well. Do you want us to postpone the wedding so you could help Abel?" I asked, scared of her answer... "Kevin, what nonsense are you saying? Why would Anna even think about that? Abel is her past. Let him deal with his own issues..." Kelly said, completely dismissing the idea, yet my gaze remained fixed on my fiancee, whose gaze was expressionless... She stared at her brother, taking in a deep breath before saying... "Babe, I know you love me a lot. But please, just trust me. Let's postpone the wedding, okay?" She said, looking at me her eyes filled with emotions... Ha! So it was true? My mind went numb, leaving my heart in a turmoil... I wanted to scold her, but staring at the siblings, it's obvious their minds were made up... I nodded slightly, kissing her forehead... "I understand" I said, before adding... "I'll have it postponed. I trust you. Don't let me down" I said forcing a bitter smile, before glancing at Kelly who seemed frustrated... She was definitely trying to control herself, but couldn't. Before any of us could notice, she stormed out... Not long after she left, I followed, leaving behind the two siblings... I was hurt. How was I supposed to explain the situation to my family? Did she even consider my feelings? It's obvious she didn't want my opinion, else, shouldn't she have consulted me first? I got home, and managed to sleep, probably due to the effect of the alcohol. I woke up the next morning and found a message from Anna, apologizing to me and urging me to come to Abel's place. I didn't intend to go, but my curiosity got the best of me, and I finally gave in... When I got there, I saw a few people out of whom I could only recognize Kelly and Rose, Abel's wife... I avoided talking to any of them and silently sat there, like some lost sheep... Not too long, Anna, Abel and another man walked in. My fiancee was really breathtaking. I couldn't get my eyes of her. I turned my gaze to the man who was stealing her attention, only to find him glaring at me... Noticing the tensed atmosphere, Anna urged for them to settle down, but he coldly ordered for her to follow him to his room... I really wanted to punch him to the face, but I knew better. He had the nerves to hold my woman hand in hand, even pulling her into his bedroom... What was this bastard thinking?...
