Part 3

Rose's POV I sat on the sofa staring blankly at the ceiling, feeling helpless. My mom had done her best to comfort me but truth is I didn't want to hear any comforting words... My mind was preoccupied on how to help my husband. I just wanted him back and wouldn't mind putting up the act just so he could get well... I was still staring when I heard the door open. I turn towards the door, only to find Laura making her way in... "Hi!" She said wearing a warm smile... I simply nodded in response forcing a smile that didn't quit reach my eyes... "How are you feeling now?" She asked... I sigh helplessly before saying... "I'm okay" "Where's your mother?" She asked, since I had mentioned to her that my mother was around... "She went to the market" I answered casually, not in the mood for any conversation... "Oh! Won't you go to the hospital today?" Laura asked... "Actually, the doctor called and said Abel has been asking after Anna." Laura stared at me for a while before asking... "What are you planning on doing?" I didn't say a thing, because I wasn't sure either of what I should do... "Let's go pay him a visit first, okay?" I hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement... After about half an hour, we arrived the hospital. We swiftly walked towards my husband's hospital room. Upon getting there, I heard voices inside, causing me to freeze... "You literally didn't pass by to check on me yesterday. Are you really that busy? And who's the person next to you?" That was my husband talking. But the question was, who was he talking with? Laura was as curious as I was and was about opening the door, when I stopped her just in time... She understood and slowly pulled her hand away from the door's knob. Just then we heard a female voice... "Actually, he's my colleague. Yeah! I pleaded with him to drop me off so I could bring this food for you. I didn't expect to see you awake. I mean, no one told me" Ha! Wasn't that Anna's voice? What was she doing here... Laura stared at me, obviously waiting for an explanation. I shook my head, indicating I was as surprised as she was... Before I could snap back to reality, Laura had already made her way in... The three people in the room, turned their gazes towards Laura and I... "Good morning to you all" Laura greeted, forcing a smile... "Good morning" I greeted in barely a whisper, but audible enough to have been heard... "Wow! Mah, you came here yesterday and knew I had regained consciousness, why didn't you tell Anna about it? You very well knew I wanted to see her right?" Abel said, seeming annoyed... Ha! Was I really supposed to call his ex to keep him company? "Well, I forgot...yeah, I forgot calling her. I tried calling her when I left but her phone was switched off. I forgot calling her later" I lied forcing a smile... Anna was still holding a flask, obviously containing food. She dropped it on the table next to the bed, before turning her gaze at me... "Rose, is it okay if we talk for a while?" She asked and I nodded. We both made our way out, walking towards the hospital canteen as we spoke... "He really has amesea?" She asked, wearing a worried expression... "Yeah! Partial amesea. He doesn't remember being married to me. Infact, he thinks you're still his girlfriend" I said, trying to surpress the pain I was feeling deep within me... "You know, when I came the other day, you weren't around, so I decided to leave. When I came in today again, I decided to see the doctor first before going to see him and he confirmed to me that he has lost his memory, but didn't tell me that he could recall some certain things." Anna sigh as she explained... "I'm sorry okay? I know you must be going through a hard time now. I'll just leave. Besides, I also wanted to tell you that I'm getting married." She said and I looked at her surprised and happy as well... "I'd really want you to come for my wedding, but seeing things unfold this way, it's understandable if you don't come. The man in there, Kevin, is actually my fiance" She added, smiling brightly at me... "Really? You're not joking are you?" I asked wanting to make sure... "I'm not joking. Well, how do you plan handling Abel? I mean I made him believe Kevin was my colleague, just so that I won't be the one to spill things." "I don't have a plan yet. I just hope something comes up. I want him to get well soonest" I said... "I understand. Well, I'll be leaving now. I still have things to do" I simply smiled at Anna who nodded before walking away... She returned to find her fiance, and gave Abel the excuse of going to work before leaving... I was about saying something when Abel assigned some task to Laura and I and also instructed that we went back to the office... Here was I wanting to be next to my husband, but he just pushed me away like I was nothing... I stared at my belly, wondering wether the little one in me was proud of it's father or not... Laura noticing my distress quickly said... "Don't think too much. Just go home and rest, okay? Just focus on your health and that of the baby" I simply nodded forcing a bitter smile... Once in, my mother couldn't help but worry for me. She didn't know what I was thinking and I wasn't in the mood to talk either. I was just overwhelmed with emotions. How could fate be this cruel? The more I thought about everything, the more my heart ached... Once in my bedroom, I shut the door, walking straight to the bathroom. I turned on the shower, allowing the cold water run over my body... As the water kept flowing, I sat under the shower, my mind wondering back to my first meeting with Abel... Our first meeting was at Royals, when I was recruited. Back then, out relationship was nothing more than employer employee.... He was usually cold, yet soft hearted. He rarely smiled unless Anna was around... Yeah, Abel was madly in love with Anna back then. No matter how angry he was, he would relax upon seeing her. It was just normal that he got irritated when he saw me walking into his room. He certainly was looking forward to seeing Anna... Anna had passed by this morning, and had managed to make him believe she was caught up with work. He'll definitely be expecting her again, right?... With that thought in mind, I opened my eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling, just then, I remembered Anna told me she was going to be getting married... With that, a sudden smile crept on my lips. I quickly got out of the shower, and changed into fresh clothes. Feeling a bit better, I picked my phone making my way downstairs when I heard a familiar voice in the living room... ****** "See who we have here" Roy grined staring at the lady who just walked in. Her hair was tied in a ponytail and she wore simple straight knee-length gown that fitted her perfectly... She was undeniably beautiful. If beauty was a thing, she was definitely it. As if being beautiful wasn't enough, she had well curved shape... Anna smiled warmly at the man before making herself comfortable... "Tell me Roy, am I no longer welcomed here?" She asked, acting hurt... "Of course not my darling. Tell me, how's your fiance?" Roy asked... With his question, Anna's face flushed... "He's okay. I hope everything is ready. I don't want my wedding lacking. I trust you and that's why I assigned you with all the major task" Anna said, her expression serious... "Of course! Everything's just perfect. We're waiting for the D-Day. I can't wait to walk you down the aisle. You definitely will look stunning" Roy said, his smile broad and bright... Anna returned the smile before saying... "I'm just so happy and grateful at the same time. Kevin loves me a lot and has never given me any reason to complain. I'm really grateful I found him" she said dreamily... "Are you saying you don't regret leaving Abel?" Roy asked, his curious gazes fixed on her... Anna furrowed her brows upon hearing Roy's question. She was about responding when she remembered something. Her expression became serious, her brow furrowing more... "Talking of Abel, can one forget just a part of their memory? Is it really possible to remember some things and forget others?" She asked, her gaze fixed on him. Roy was a medical doctor and should know something about such things right? He studied her expression for a while before nodding... "Yeah! It's possible for one to forget a part of his memory. Why ask?" "Well, that's because I heard Abel has partial amesea. He thinks I'm still his girlfriend" Roy stared at her a mix of surprise and shocked evident on his face...
