Julian stopped counting after ten thousand doors. Every room looked different. Every room held a person. Every person carried a fragment. He would walk in, place a hand on their chest, and watch the blue light disappear. Then they would wake up. The question never changed. “Where am I?” His answer never changed either. “You’re safe. Follow the light.” A door appeared after every rescue. A way out. A path home. The years kept piling up. His beard grew past his chest. His clothes frayed. His boots wore thin.
