Lyra stirred as the dull throb in her temples pulled her from sleep. Her head felt heavy, like she’d been underwater for too long. A groan escaped her lips as she blinked against the dim morning light filtering through the curtains. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the room—simple, warm, unfamiliar. Her breath caught when she noticed two figures slouched in the nearby chairs. Kyson and Xander. Both brothers sat motionless, clearly asleep. Kyson’s head was tilted back slightly, his arms folded tight across his chest, as if even unconscious, he refused to let his guard down. Xander had half-slumped to the side, mouth parted slightly, looking almost… peaceful. They stayed with me? Her gaze drifted to the blanket covering her naked form and her heart skipped. Someone had tucked it over her.
