She hadn’t caught it all, but Xander had stormed out, and Kyson…he hadn’t even looked at her. She just wanted to slip into her room unseen, curl up on her couch, and let the silence swallow her. But as she passed by Alpha Maverick’s study, the low murmur of voices caught her ear—then, the unmistakable sharpness of Kyson’s voice. Angry. Bitter. And louder than usual. “…You went behind my back,” Kyson snapped. Lyra froze near the staircase, half-shadowed by the wall. Her breath stilled. She shouldn’t be listening.
