Chapter 19: The plan

Sophia and Alex woke up to the sound of Ben's voice, his words laced with urgency. "Guys, we need to talk. Now."
They quickly got dressed and followed Ben to the living room. "What is it?" Alex asked, his eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger.
Ben hesitated before speaking. "I've been digging into Carlos's plan, and I think I've found a way to stop him."
Sophia's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?"
Ben took a deep breath. "We need to get to the meeting point before Carlos does. We can't let him start the war."
Alex nodded, his mind already racing with strategies. "I'll take care of the security. Sophia, can you get in touch with your father?"
Sophia nodded, knowing it wouldn't be an easy task. But she was ready to face whatever came her way.
Sophia took a deep breath and pulled out her phone. She hadn't spoken to her father in weeks, but she knew she had to try.
"Father, it's me," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Her father's voice was cold and distant. "Sophia, I'm busy. What do you want?"
Sophia swallowed hard. "I know about the meeting. I know what Carlos is planning."
There was a pause on the other end of the line. "What are you talking about?"
Sophia knew she had to tread carefully. "I'm talking about the war between the cartels. I won't let it happen."
Her father laughed. "You're just a foolish little girl. You don't know what you're getting yourself into."
Sophia's anger flared, but she kept her cool. "I'm not a little girl anymore. And I won't back down."
Her father's tone changed, his voice dripping with menace. "You're making a big mistake, Sophia. You'll pay for this."
Sophia knew she had to end the call before things escalated further. "I'm not afraid of you," she lied.
As she hung up the phone, Sophia felt a sense of determination wash over her. She was ready to face whatever came her way...
