Rylan woke up with an immense headache which made his head spin, he felt nauseous all of a sudden. A bizarre chill ran down his whole body when a dim red light entered his barely opened pupils. He could hear muffled voices and what seemed like screeches also echoed throughout the place.  Rylan's PoV I could hazily feel that my consciousness was stabilizing but soon met with agonizing pain in my gut and I groaned while adjusting my sight. Wincing at the terrible pain, I clenched my head to comfort it somehow and slowly sat up. Placing my hands around the floor I could feel the cold concrete floor however, it was covered with some kind of dark, sticky fluid. My hands started trembling as a gruesome thought arose in my mind. “Is this…blood?” I whispered. Even though the metallic stench was all over the place I still sniffed my hand to confirm.  It was indeed blood! But whose blood was it? And where did that ghastly amount of blood come from? Spilled like water on the concrete floor?  I quickly checked my own body for wounds and injuries but to my surprise, I was unharmed. Except for the mental t*****e the headache was giving me and the nauseating smell of rotten flesh all around me, luckily I am alive.  ‘What happened? What is this place?’ My thoughts were all jumbled and I couldn’t help but get the feeling that something or someone was silently watching me.   I blinked a few more times. When my other senses came back, I heard something dripping somewhere.  Tip. Tip. Tip.  Trying to get up and investigate, a strange question passed my train of thought. 'How did I get here?' -----------------------------------------------------------   Part 2 A Cruel Discovery ----------------------------------------------------------- How indeed… I tried to recall what had happened before I fell into the unconscious world but my mind went crazy when the sudden flashbacks spiraled inside my head. I wanted to hold on to something and weakly bent a little.   Sweating profusely, my heart started thudding crazily against my chest and my breathing went nuts.    'What was that noise? Where is everyone? The case!' I frantically searched for the item in my jeans and only then I realized that my white coat was gone but the steel case was still inside my pocket.  I knew I had to calm down but the stench I picked up after breathing so heavily made it even worse. I was at a loss; I smelled that sickeningly, dry, metallic odor of blood mixed with a vile pungent touch, enough to make you suffocate. These were enough to make a grown man cough up vomit and squeeze his eyes shut.  I know now, why my stomach was burning and my insides were going crazy. I dare not think any further as I tried to stop myself from throwing up badly. The acidity in my mouth increased the salivation and it made my air passage continuously constrict. It was that horrible of a place.  'I have no idea how I got here or who brought me here?'    I looked everywhere, anywhere… searching for some clues. Steadying myself to get a good look and analysis of the situation I was in. Thinking about everything that was possible. It was so quiet that I could hear my breathing. Something was dripping, slowly somewhat a foot away from me. For once I didn't want my eyes to adjust to the dim light around me. I froze. My eyes focused on the ceiling, there were bodies hung upside down and the blood was draining like drying the clothes. Many of them were bound with ropes, some were wrapped in coils and chains, twisted, and turned. Their bones forcibly stuck out of the skin and ruptured organs spilled out of the bodies. At that moment, whatever was inside my stomach blurted out and I could barely standstill. The world was spinning rapidly. My breathing was unstable and so was my mind.  I did not find the time to ease the pain when;  In a distance, I heard the thumping of footsteps and dragging of chains, and some horrible screeches and wailing came.  Am I going crazy? I tried to cover my mouth so that no voice would come out. I could barely breathe and it was hurting my chest profoundly.    The noise was becoming louder and louder, depicting that whatever is out there, is now coming my way! It came to a sudden halt. The dim light shone around me, giving me some spatial awareness. I hid behind the poor dead bodies, hoping that the thing would not notice me as I don't want to have the same fate as these rotten bodies.  when I glanced from the side, my eyes widened in fear.  I was in a steel cage, captured by someone, and thrown into an abyss of t*****e. Before the culprit behind this a*******n could come any closer I turned around in panic and searched for something I could use for defense.  I could hardly move in the tense atmosphere but my will to live was stronger than the fear of death.  I went near those poorly treated subjects... And quickly grabbed a hanging rib, tore it apart from the flesh, and held it tightly in hand. It made an uncomfortable squishing sound but I had no other choice. I wanted to scream, I wanted to run. But my body refused both. Uneasiness grew within me but I had to hide, from whatever monstrosity that was approaching me. I drenched myself in that horrendous blood pool to confine my presence and hid behind one of the hanging bodies.  I Waited... Waited... And waited... After what felt like an eternity, I heard someone else breathing heavily and a click sound came with a little beep. Someone was opening the steel gate! It was open and I paused in my movements to take my chance to run. There came a grumbling sound and the thumping of footsteps continued inside,  "Tch... The subject doesn't seem to be in sight, it has either rotten away or hidden somewhere in this cell." the voice was rough and deep. It seemed to be impatient and annoyed.  I held my breath to control my chattering teeth and listened closely to that hoarse voice. Clenching the sharp bone in my hands I readied myself for whatever was approaching me. "Initiating heat radiance search program" I heard a computer-like tune coming from him. 'An AI system?' before I could comprehend further the AI's voice echoed again.  "Search complete, human life detected, it is behind the failed subject 497. Commence pursuit, capture without fail."   My breathing hitched, I could tell it was approaching me. 'I have to... I have to run... I have to...'   "I found you." that voice suddenly whispered beside me, its breath crashing against my neck, smiling eerily... mocking its prey.  I fell backward as the slippery floor made my balance off. Seeing that deformed human-like being in front of me, my whole body stiffened. I swallowed hard. It had a wide grin, its eyes glowing gold and raising what seemed like a big mohawk! and quickly flung it towards me. Gulping away the lump in my throat I gripped the rib in my hand and threw myself to the side, dodging its powerful attack. It grabbed my foot instantly and dragged me back. I rolled over and hastily kicked its hand. The grip on my foot was loosened but in no way was I free from its hold. It lifted me up and suspended my whole body in mid-air with just one hand, giving me a proud glance.  In fright and helplessness, I only had one hope. That rib! I was clenching it so hard that the rough edges splintered my hand. Grabbing it with both hands, I swung my body towards it and stabbed its neck with all my might. Throwing me harshly on the ground it yelled badly. My arm got scratched in the process and blood oozed out, it was painful but I was given the opportunity to run and that pain kept me sane in that insane situation. Rolling on the ground I tried to make a run for it, slipping and stumbling I straightened myself holding the bars near the door, my hands shaking and becoming cold from anxiety, I had no time to worry about looking back if the thing was still alive or not.  'That's it! That's the moment I need to escape!' With all my might, I pushed the door open and dashed outside the cell, going God knows where. Turning and skipping many hallways and doors I was looking for the exit. Panting and covered terribly in a cold sweat I came across the only huge door in that awful, dim place. 'Please open! For Goodness sake! Let me out of this nightmare!' ---------------------------------------------------------
