CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT Alessandro's pov It was surely a hectic day for me and to think I was just getting started. I just wanted to go back to my bed and sleep for the whole day but I'm the Alpha, I couldn't do that, I had duties to fulfill for the pack's sake or we'll probably collapse due to my incompetence and I didn't want that to happen so I had to always be at my best all the time. My father had always pressed words of wisdom into my head and I know I learned well from him. It could be seen in my pack and our rapid progress ever since I became the Alpha of my pack. I sighed as I took off my gloves and gave them to the errand boy beside me. He took it with a bow and went to place it where it was meant to be in the gym. We were at the training ground and today I was training in my human form, perfecting my boxing skills even though I was perfect at it years ago, it wouldn't hurt to keep in shape and not lose such a potential skill though so I didn't mind training every single morning. Another quality of a good leader, according to my father, was always following the rules, even though you could break them if you wish to and I did just that most of the time. I followed the rules to maintain my boundaries and be the good man I always wanted to be. Following the rules was always going to keep me on track, the right part. I was sweaty, and little droplets fell from my face as I breathed hard and longed to get some air in my lungs while walking over to my gym bag to get a bottle of water so I could quench my thirst. "Crazy game yeah?" I asked my beta, Tristan, referring to the boxing match we just had. His cheek was swollen and that was my handwork, he refused to tap out so I took my chances, and well, I won in the end and it was satisfying… I always love to win all the time. Tristan looked at me with a frown etched on his face before he took his towel and left for the bathroom ignoring me. I chuckled and grabbed my towel before going after him. It always happens this way… most times though, not all the time. I win and he'll be pissed at me then I'll apologize and offer him something he can't reject if I can put it that way, and then bam! We're good like he was never pissed at me, it works all the darn time. I smiled to myself as I walked into the bathroom and prepared to have my bath. Minutes later, I was out and so was Tristan, still with a frown "you're pissed?" I teased him and heard him grunt at me but I just laughed "come on man, you just had a bath. You're meant to be calm by now" I tell him but he gives me a quick glance and ignores me before he makes to head out of the bathroom "Okay fine, no training tomorrow. We'll go clubbing at night and you can have all the girls you want" I offer and he stops before turning to face me with a sly smile on his face "you always fall for my act, don't you?" He said and I rolled my eyes. "Of course Tristan, you're an extremely good actor," I say sarcastically and his smile grows wider "don't break your promise dude, we're still going to go clubbing okay," he told me and I nod before walking out of the bathroom… he always gets me all the damn time with his perfectly fake pissed off face. We finished dressing up into a fresh set of pants and zipping up our bags when my zeta came in with an angry look. She was always angry though; she had always been that way ever since I met her in college. She got to where we stood and bowed before me before she placed her hands on both sides of her waist with a scowl on her face. She looked at me "have you heard the latest news about your annoying once-upon-a-time best friend?" She asked and I groaned while massaging my temples "oh dear lord, what did he do this time?" I asked her and she pressed her lips hard together first before replying "I'm not sure how authentic the news is yet but a source says he's planning to take over the werewolf realm with the help of the witches. Gilbert that's clearly breaking the spirit code, we can't let him do that. People will die" she said and I sighed. The news could be fake, so I couldn't jump to conclusions yet. I had to be sure and the only way to do that was to go to my enemy's pack and check all recent activities of Gilbert. I knew he would welcome me into his pack but we were probably going to fight before I would leave. I was hoping the news wouldn't be true because he was probably going to get banished if the Lycan king found out about his intentions for the Werewolf realm. But as far as I know, Gilbert isn't that type of person; he might be a d**k and all, and yeah he's made some pretty shitty mistakes and that's all they are—mistakes and I know that deep down there was a piece of my best friend in him. "This is extreme, what are we going to do?" Tristan said and I groaned “I'll go to his pack, to confirm if it's true or not" I declared and Tristan shook his head "remember what happened the last time you both fought?" He said clearly discouraging me from leaving the pack. I looked at him and smiled "No worries mate, he can't kill me. He's not that crazy. We're just going to have a nice talk" I told him and he gulped because he knew I was definitely not going to have a civil conversation with Gilbert if he angered me, it always ended in fights but this time, I had to stop him if he was up to anything.
