Emory's POV

"Looking for your phone, Rayne?" Jenny said icily. Even with my back turned to her, I knew she was smirking and her wings were growing out of proportion. I immediately snapped my neck, walk back to her, and snatched my phone from her grasp. I wore a sour expression that made it seem as though she just slapped me across my face. Almost immediately, my palms began to sweat. But I gave myself a little pep talk to play it cool.

"Why do you have my phone, Jenny?" I asked and she let out a humorless laugh. She took tentative steps close to me.

"You might have changed your appearance, your face, and every other aspect of your life…and true you did a good job deceiving all of us" she snickered and gave a mock applause. "You are a good actress, Rayne…..just watch and see how I expose you" she laughed again. I laughed too but quickly end the charade

"Yeah right….make sure you add an extra popcorn and soda for when I expose you, your father, and your shitty ass Gilbert. Don't forget you almost killed Rayne. Do not forget the injustices and crimes you committed under her ignorant watch" I twirled around her and stopped behind her, menacingly, with an icy glare. I swept her hair from her the side of her face with my index finger and whispered in her ears. "I have evidence against you and your entire family baby girl…Does it not strike a chord? That I escaped from your father's dungeon and after that from your claws? Did you already forget what your mother did to me and your twin too? If I were you, baby girl, I'll be on the lookout for myself, because, me coming out to reveal what your family did to me in the past wouldn’t be cute for your statues" I finished speaking and withdrew from her presence. Jenny tried to play it cool but I could see how shaking she was. Suddenly, I felt someone's presence around me and when I looked up, I see Gilbert.

“What’s wrong?” he asked but neither of us answered before I sashayed out of his and Jenny’s presence, “Emory” I heard Gilbert call out after me but I didn’t turn. “Emory wait,” he said again but I completely ignored him, taking the last corner that led to the event premises. Just before I reached the crowd, I heaved a sigh, pushing whatever cold feet I got from my encounter with Jenny to the back of my mind.

I took a deep breath and smoothed my dress then with my head held up high, I walked into the board meeting room and all the board members of my pack were all seated already and waiting for me. Didn't want to brag, but I felt really proud of myself… achieving this much at a young age and even bagged the CEO award this year. It was definitely a milestone for me and I knew I had tackled a challenge that many would think I couldn't take on. Now the world was going to see me for my ability and all I was capable of doing. Investors would be interested in my company and I knew I would get to meet many men and women of high prominence in the society which would open doors and opportunities for me and my company. I got to my seat and they all stood up and applauded me generously with a huge smiles on each of their faces. I felt more proud and happy, my heart was full and it felt like I was on the moon. I didn't want this feeling to end… I felt like a winner. I joined them to clap too and soon we stopped and sat as I exchanged handshakes with the ones that sat close to me.

"Congratulations Alpha Emory", they all kept on saying, sometimes in chorus and I just bowed my head and said thank you humbly because I couldn't have done it all without them. They were like my backbone, a backup that I had hired to help me as I strived for the best in the industrial world and this was just the beginning, I had bigger, wider dreams and I was determined to achieve them all because I am a winner.

"Thank you guys so much for all the work you put into this company so far" I finally spoke up and they clapped again. "It wasn't an easy one, there were challenges and times when we thought we should just give up and let these dreams go, there were times when I saw how tired you guys got and I would wonder if the hard work was going to pay off or if it was worth it… but here we are today people, recognized as one of the best companies and I am so proud of us" I said cheerfully and we all grinned from ear to ear warmly as we started another round of applause again. The atmosphere was full of joy and everyone looked fulfilled and accomplished. This was our work, we did it and we deserved the accolade and award I received in our name. It still felt like a dream sometimes but then I would pinch myself and realize I did all these, I put in my time and diligence and the end was worth all of it eventually.

"So when do we celebrate? Do we throw a party, or go out for dinner?" Jamal asked and Ruby laughed while she playfully slapped him on his shoulder

"Of course silly, we're definitely going to celebrate but we must watch out for the perfect timing. If you ask me, I think we should have a head about what Jenny or Gilbert would do about knowing Rayne’s real identity. Do not worry though, they are both losers, so we shouldn’t expect too much" she said and we all laughed at how she teased him. Jamal pouted and laughed too.

"I know Ruby but you still have to plan a celebration you know," he told her and she rolled her eyes

"Of course, I know Jamal" she retorted and made a face at him. I just smiled from where I sat as I watched and I was glad for the millionth time that I surrounded myself with people that loved me, supported me, and wished the best for me just as I would always wish for them. Life didn't go well for me at one point but the moon goddess always had her way of turning every horrible situation into a blessing for us.

"Well I called this meeting to extend my gratitude to you all and show you all how much I appreciate your efforts and the hard work you put into this company, taking it to its height now… but this isn't the end. I'm here to also encourage us not to relax because we won just one award. We are going to win more so we'll have to tackle bigger challenges and make ourselves more recognized in the industry so we can win many awards to come" I announced again and they clapped.

"Of course, Alpha and yes, I love your speech at the event. I even shed a tear you know?" Bella said and I smiled, flipping my hair over my shoulder.

"A boss always delivers the right speech" I replied playfully and winked at her and that warranted another round of laughter from all of them.

"So, Anya, I'm going to need you to draft contracts with the companies that are interested in investing. Jamal, tighten up the security around the company to avoid any breaches. Tom and Lucy, arrange my schedules perfectly well and make sure they don't clash then book flights for me to take to meetings with new prospects. This is a new beginning for us so I don't want to make mistakes or let any of you make mistakes, it must be perfect… I want everyone to be on their A-game because this is it and we shouldn't mess it up, no one should mess it up… and Bella, plan a meeting with the workers to know what's going on and talk to them to do their best too, best worker of the month gets a raise" I said authoritatively and once I was done, I dragged in a long breath. Jamal whistled at my display and I smiled

"And yes Tom, meet me for the company card you guys will use for the celebration, you all deserve it a celebration and compensation," I told him which made him smile so wide like he just won a lottery.

"You really deserve the award though, you've always shown interest in everything we do and never leave the work for us to do alone. You carry us along and boost our confidence back up when something goes wrong or when we lose motivation. You're always there to push us to do more. Thank you, Emory, you're everything a CEO should be" Ruby told me and I felt teary. All she said was really touching and I felt my insides turning to mush from her lovely speech.

"Thank you so much, Ruby, thank you all so much for believing in me even when it was quite hard to believe in myself. You guys are literally my backbone" I said to them

"You push us to do more too, sheesh you're unstoppable when you're determined to get something done," Bella told me and I laughed

"Thanks for the compliment, determination is an important trait of a good CEO" I replied to her and turned back to the rest...

"This meeting won't take much of our time, I just want to say thank you, and encourage you all to do more good for this company and I also want to see reports of recent activities and sales on my desk by the end of today. I want to know where we stand and to know if we lack in any area" I told them and stood up to leave. They applauded me again as I left and my assistants, Tom and Lucy followed suit.

"Congratulations once again Alpha Emory," Lucy told me as she followed me behind and I gave her a polite smile

"Thank you, Lucy," I told her and faced forward as we moved back to my office to go on with whatever duty I had to do for the day. "Don't forget the things I assigned you guys to do for me" I reminded Tom and Lucy and they quickly scribbled it in their notes that they always carried around with them.

"Um ma'am, you have a meeting by 2 pm with this company that's also interested in meeting you and you also have an interview by 8 pm tonight," Tom told me I stopped to look at him

"An interview at night?" I questioned Tom

"Yes they sent in the email earlier today” he explained and I shook my head

"Cancel it, I can't have a meeting by 8 pm when I'm done with my work for the day, an interview for me as a CEO is part of work and I can't let it interfere with my after-work hours," I told him and he smiled before nodding his head and he quickly made a note in his notepad

"Noted," he said immediately and I continued walking in silence until we got to my office and they dispersed to their respective tables to get back to work. As I got settled in my office, my mind went around what happened today and I couldn’t help but feel a little sad at how things had changed. I knew a day would come when my real identity would be revealed but I had hoped it wouldn’t be this soon. I was yet to launch my revenge plan on Gilbert and he already found out that I am Rayne.
