Chapter Fifty Six

CHAPTER FIFTY SIX

Emory's pov….

I finally arrived at my pack and my things were being taken to my room for me with my help. I walked into my condo after them and headed for the kitchen first to quench my thirst which was threatening to keep my throat parched already. I felt relieved once I'd drank the water and I headed up to my room to change into something comfortable and took a short nap before I started what I actually came for. I tried to sleep but I kept tossing and turning on my bed as the memories of my encounter with the unknown man at my party flooded my head. The occurrence of that day came playing into my head. My phone began to ring and I flinched in fear before I realized it was my phone I picked it up to check the caller ID, it was Alessandro.

"Hey, Alessandro," I said trying to sound cheerful once I answered the phone.

"Hey, Emory. How are you” are you home yet?" He asked and I nodded before I realized he couldn’t see me

"Yeah, I have. Not long ago, though" I replied tiredly

"Okay then, make sure you rest okay" he reminded me and I rolled my eyes

"Of course Alessandro. I will take a rest. How can I not?" I asked him sarcastically

"Okay then goodbye sweet cakes," he said not catching my sarcastic tone, and hung up. I dropped my phone and fell back on my bed. Minutes later, I realized I wouldn't be able to sleep so I decided to call for an impromptu meeting with my most trusted workers Anya, Bella, Tom, Lucy, Ruby, and Jamal to find out who the man that attacked me was. I emailed Lucy and told her to inform the rest about an impromptu meeting in the next twenty minutes. She replied immediately and assured me that she was on it. I changed into a simple plain t-shirt and blue ripped jeans then packed my hair in a ponytail before leaving for the office conference room where the meeting would take place. I got to the meeting room and met Lucy, Tom, and Jamal. Jamal came over to hug me once he saw me and asked how I was faring about the incident at my party… shortly afterward, the rest began to come in with grumpy expressions since on their faces. Since it was still the weekend and we weren’t meant to be working but they also knew the meeting was important because it had to do with my safety so they couldn’t complain. Ruby hugged me too and everyone else asked how I was faring and I assure them that I was all good and the meeting began in earnest.

I explained my whole intentions to them and how I was determined to find the culprit that dared to threaten me. Then I tasked each one of them to come up with plans on how to get the person. We brainstormed for a while and all their ideas sounded great. We decided to keep it all on low-key for now until we’ve got a lead on who the culprit might be.

At the end of the exercise, I was satisfied with everyone's idea and we decided to proceed by watching the footage of the whole event from every angle to know who it was that gained entry and how he got in first. I dismissed everyone and thanked them before we all disperse to our respective residences while Ruby followed me to my room

"I was worried when I heard about what happened from Stephanie and I haven’t been able to reach you all this while. Alessandro insisted on you resting and we all saw the necessity of what he was asking, I hope you're actually good though" Ruby asked me and I smiled at her

"I'm good Ruby, Alessandro made sure I was good and calmed me down while I was with him" I explained to her and she let out a sigh of relief

"Phew, I'm glad to hear that, Alessandro is always considerate" she rasped and hugged me before I disappeared into my room. I remembered my night with him and I began to have goosebumps and shiver when the sudden feeling covered me all over from remembering how his hands ran over me and how he took me, I felt the heat creep up my face and I knew I was turning red, I must admit that he was really good.

"I'm going to make your lunch, I'm going to make you feel better too," Ruby said to me as she was heading towards the kitchen not noticing my sudden shiver or red face from the way I was feeling. I just smiled and nodded at her before she slide into the kitchen. I gasped and quickly rushed to my room to rinse my face in the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror and I was surprised at how I reacted to the night I had with Alessandro… although I knew it could never be compared to what I felt when I'm with Gilbert, the way I feel with Gilbert is special in an infuriating way, I shouldn't feel that way but I couldn't help it, it's irresistible. Once I was sure that my facial skin had gone back to my normal self, I threaded down the stairs to meet Ruby, she was still in the middle of making my lunch when I walked into the kitchen and she turned to look at me.

"What are we cooking?" I asked her as I grab an apple and bite into it.

"It's a surprise," she said and winked at me while I rolled my eyes with a laugh

"We both know you're not really good at cooking just like me, I can help," I told her and she shrugged

"I can handle it, just sit and wait" she replied and I headed for the table in the middle of the kitchen and sat on the chair, waiting for her to surprise me. Minutes later, the food was done and she served me, the food looked nice so I took a bite and it was really delicious. I turned to look at her with surprise on my face and she was smiling triumphantly at me

"Wow Ruby, where did you learn to cook like this?" I asked surprised

"I told you I'll surprise you, and it's a secret" she replied and urged me to keep on eating.
