Chapter twenty four
Emory's pov
"Hello Husband" the words flew seamlessly out of Jenny's mouth. How did she get inside his room or I'm still dreaming? I willed myself to open my eyes and indeed, Jenny was standing at the bedside in Gilbert's bathroom. My words seemed to die in my throat—I couldn't speak. Hell, I could hardly comprehend what she was saying. Husband? Disbelief and confusion clouded my mind as I tried to connect what was happening around me. True, I intended to avenge Gilbert for all the pain he caused me and also Jenny, for the humiliation and mental torture she caused. Apparently, me f*****g her husband on their matrimonial bed should count as one but for reasons I didn’t know, this new realization irked me. I turned on the bed and looked at Gilbert.
"Don't be ridiculous Jenny. You know we are not married yet. Cut the s**t" Gilbert flared, using the coverlet to further cover his nakedness.
"But we are betrothed. Maybe not married presently but I'm designed to be your future wife—the future Luna. So if you don't want me to…." She was looking at me with rage. I remembered that day… The first day she accused me of theft and every other thing I didn’t do. Gilbert always indulged her but now he was looking at her with so much disdain and hatred. What changed/ what happened? They used to be pretty close…
"The hell Jenny? You can f**k other males when we are not married but I'm not allowed to f**k others? Well, guess what? It's an activity well shared. While you have her brother who is also an Alpha as a f**k mate, I have her, the younger sister as my f**k buddy. Until we eventually tie the nuptial tie, this d**k isn't yours and there's no guarantee it will be solely yours. Ever!" Gilbert howled at Jenny and I just stared at them without saying a word. Actually, I was trying to let their words sink into my head. If I must play this game with them I need to know how to turn in the right cards at the right time.
"And guess what? I'm not solely yours as well and that's why I will f**k whoever I want and whenever I want to. You don't f*****g tell me whom I should f**k and whom not to f**k!" Jenny yelled back. The frustration in her eyes was bright as day. What an unhealthy obsession she had for Gilbert. Even during the times when I remained as a slave in their pack, I still remembered how she roamed the whole place with him, taking whatever s**t he sent her way because she liked the idea of being the Luna. Clearly, she had not grown up. Not just Jenny but Gilbert too. The more I looked at the both of them, the more I realized how befitting they were for each other. I stood up with the bed sheet draped over my nude, my eyes traveled around the room and I saw my clothing and panties littered on the ground. My initial intention was to pick up my clothes and exit Gilbert's home but an idea struck my mind and I went back to bed.
"Aren't you just about leaving?" Asked Jenny aggressively, the veins in her neck popping out.
"No," I replied indignantly.
"What do you mean no?" She asked again, seething with wrath and clothes which made me feel good. Seeing her looking miserable and so riled up over Gilbert brought me more satisfaction than I'd ever imagined.
"From all indications, you aren't Gilbert's wife and secondly you are not the reason why I'm here. Gilbert invited and it was left to him to tell me when to leave" I added more effort to the smirk playing on my lips.
"You're going to pay for this princess," Jenny said stomping her feet on the ground. “I would make sure you regret crossing me like this” she continued rambling and the more she spoke, the more Gilbert squeezed his eyes from disgust. His forehead had begun to crease out.
"Enough Jenny. You are embarrassing my guest" Gilbert said begrudgingly. His voice was dripping with so much venom too.
"I don’t f*****g care" Jenny hissed before leaving the room.
“I apologize for her tardiness,” Gilbert said, looking at me with remorse. He brought his hands to my face and caressed my face.
“I’d accept your apology on one condition”
“Anything, my lady” his gaze on me was now intense.
“Anything?” I asked.
“You have my word, Emory”

"The Alpha is coming; I hope the drugs are in order.” The female wolf in charge of the drug production informed her workers as she supervised the slave workers in charge of making cocaine and other hard drugs.
“You guys better be aware and extremely careful because if anything happens to a single drop of cocaine, you are dead as he will personally murder you,” she said again while the girls hastened up in their work, trying to get it done before he showed. A girl carrying a tray of cocaine for display slipped and fell down pouring the cocaine in all directions the same minute Gilbert was to make his appearance. Loud gasps of panic and sheer fear filled the air as the sound of approaching footsteps became clear and near. Gilbert came down and everyone quickly steered clear of the girl, not wanting to lend a helping hand so as to not fall victim too. I didn't blame them though I knew how Gilbert behaved when his product got destroyed. I’ve been there too. Gilbert walked in majestically—his look and expression indescribable. He was literally a god with a muscular body, dimples, pink lips, and haunted mysterious green eyes which held so many secrets, lies, and sorrows. He stopped in front of the girl lying on the floor trying to gather the wasted cocaine. He immediately grabbed her hair and brought her up from the ground. His hands went down to her neck, choking her, he pulled her up, to the extent that her legs weren't touching the ground.
“What did you do?” He growled.
“I am so sorry, master. I didn’t mean to…. I just fell and… please forgive me.” The girl rambled on endlessly asking for forgiveness.
“I don’t do second chances,” Gilbert said as he tried to strangle her. Just then a familiar figure entered the room. Sebastian! I almost squealed at the sight of him. I had not seen him since I came to the pack. Maybe Ruby was close by.
“Alpha, the cartel is here for the deal. They are waiting in the packhouse.” Sebastian announced.
“Alright then. Emory?” Gilbert called out to me as he let the girl fall to the ground breathing heavily trying to grasp air. He turned to the lady supervising his workers and summoned her to his side.
“Yes, Alpha?”
“Make sure that 20 tons of cocaine and m*******a are made available in the next five minutes. It should be weighed, packed, and sealed. Then as for her, make sure that all the cocaine she poured on the ground is injected into her, willingly or not.” Gilbert finalized in a murderous glare.
“But, Alpha, that will kill her.” The lady said fearfully, bowing her head to her lord.
“In case you didn’t notice, that is the whole idea. Are you trying to question me?” Gilbert shouted at the coke supervisor.
“No alpha” She replied scared to death as well.
“Good, or you will be the next victim.” He threatened her as he turned to leave. The girl from earlier grabbed him by the legs, crying and begging him to have mercy on her but he just brushed her off his leg before walking away. Even a peck of dirt would be treated with better courtesy.
“Please Alpha… the girl shouted as some men came forward surrounding her with injections.
"Gilbert waits" I shouted at his retreating back and every eye turned to look at me. I walked close to him and whispered something to his ears. It took a while before he replied to me “fine"
"Let her go," I declared, the men looked unsure for a bit but they eventually obeyed me. Had I known I would wield this much power in the pack that treated me worse than vomit, I would have made my proposal days ago and not earlier on Gilbert's bed.
