Chapter Fourteen

As I walked to the plantation my thoughts overwhelmed me. Would Helios ever permit it? Would he do it for me? Or observe as I took her mortal life away from her? As I walked through the door, Helios was waiting for me.
"She is by far a remarkable young woman." He stated.
"Pardon?"
"She's willing to give up her mortal life for you. She will indeed make a great companion." I looked at him confused.
"I've already told you I would never leave you alone. If I were to turn her, she would be with us both. You have made a compatible companion. And I refuse to choose between you two. I have a responsibility to you."
"You have no responsibility to me Erin. You are your own person. And as I said before, I am not your master. And you will and shall do as you wish. I have no grievances about it. The responsibility is mine to you. To keep you happy and I will not get in the way of your new-found love. I shall leave you to your own when she is turned. If you choose to do so." I was saddened to hear this.
"But... I don't want you to leave. I want you to stay! I need you to stay! We need you! Especially me. I could never live my life without you. I promised you that you would never be alone again. And I meant it!"
Helios smiled soulumly.
"You are indeed a jewel, Erin. I accept your invitation." I was quite relieved and sighed in such. I smiled with happiness and hugged him. My affection for him grew after this conversation. He was willing to give up his happiness, our companionship, for mine. And I loved him for it. I very much respected him. And I was eager to tell Miss Rose the news.
We took a walk up the hill to her plantation.
"So..." She began. "Does your friend approve of us now? Or does his finger still hurt?" I smiled in amusement at this question.
"He was going to leave us. But I convinced him otherwise. He is very sorry for how he treated you. And he asks your forgiveness. He approves of you indeed." I saw a sparkling smile come on her face.
"Then shall we?" She asked.
"I'm not entirely sure how to do it. I will need help from Helios."
"Well then..." she smiled. I loved her smile. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. And I couldn't believe she would give up her mortal life to be with me. She continued.
"Let's get a move on shall we?" I smiled in anticipation.
"My, you're eager aren't you?! Don't you want to think about this for a few days? You will be giving up your life, ya know?" She leaned in, smiling. Then I gently kissed me.
"I've had plenty of time to think about it. I love you. And I want to be with you forever."
"Then forever it shall be." I said, kissing her.
"Promise I won't be a nuisance?"
"Of course not! He's as eager as I am!" I replied with enthusiasm.
"Then..." She said. "I am proud to be part of the family."
