Chapter 6: A Club of Four

1913 Words
Chloe's POV The previous days have been peaceful. What I mean is that no actual murder cases or any other serious cases have been given to us. 'Boring' based on Lorcan's perception. I actually think the same but I have nothing to worry about those things since Lorcan alone can solve any case on his own. I went inside my bathroom to take a morning shower. I set it to warm mode so that it's not that cold and not too hot for me. I savor the moment of water flowing all over my body. I hope today's a good day. I hope for something to happen. But it should be a good news and good only. I don't wanna see any dead body at school anymore. But the more incidents happen, the more police officers you will see roaming around the school. I don't know if I trust any of them now because of what happened a few days ago. Lorcan also reminded that if ever I give my trust to any of them then it should Officer Bernard and him only. I can feel that he really trust the officer a lot. I always wonder how they met each other what was their first interaction. They looked like long term partners in my opinion. Speaking of Officer Bernard, Lorcan asked him to do a discreet investigation about the guy that had abducted me on the abandoned place days ago. When I told him what he looks like, Officer Bernard do not recognize the guy but to ensure it, they hired a composite artist. *A composite artist is the one who creates images of potential criminals based on a person's description. How can I forget that jerk's face? He almost let me remember the memory I don't want to think about anymore. He drew the exact facial anatomy of the guy. Not gonna lie about it, I was quite impressed. It was an end for the case if we don't have any lead about it. Lorcan assured me that he will do everything just to make that person pay for his deadly sins. I'm talking about the person who he thinks is behind all of this. He said that the guy that had me abducted was hired by that person. He was pretty confident about it as if he already knew about that person's identity. But I'm not gonna be shocked if he was right. He solved numerous cases already and was right about it. He bragged about how he never really failed a single case. Whenever I said boastful he will always reply "Rather be boastful than be ignorant." It's friday so I get how much students are more productive in school. The school's entrance is so crowded and it's 10am so all students here were 2 hours early. I wonder what most of them will do with that free time? Minutes later I found myself walking towards the room where I am heading too. I opened the door and smelled soemthing different in the air. Very familiar. "Good morning Chloe!" Dustin waved while sitting comfortably beside Minji on the couch. That explains the scent. Must've been because of his body spray. Smells nice. "Will I ever get the good morning back?" He asked as I placed my bag on the desk. "Sorry, I was just caught a little bit by surprised that you're in here." Usually there's only three of us in the clubroom but i guess today is different. He's been gone for days. What was he up to? "You know what? Why don't we celebrate? This is the first time we've actually been completed. By the way Chloe, what makes you change your mind?" Uh... "Does it matter? The important thing is we finally gathered together so we better work our ass*s now." "Copied, Boss." Seems like Lorcan is not bothered by Dustin's sarcastic remark on the end which is okay. Lorcan took a step forward and stood before the hanging chart on the left side of the room. "Since all of us know that a proffesor was murdered by his student on his own office, I will now get to the pinpoint." He then drew a paste an image of a familiar face. "Michael Writher. Considering the fact that he secretly likes Madeline and she's the inspiration behind the crime, why would he send a text message to set her up the crime?" I don't think the 'inspiration' sounds good especially if it's used in the same sentence as crime. "Exactly. Lets call this our first mission as a whole. Minji and Dustin will go find someone who has a strong feeling of hatred towards the two. Y'all know why is that." Right after he said the last word he looked at me. "Me and Chloe will go pay a visit to our dear Officer. Shall we start?" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Walking with him is kinda awkward. He's just really focusing on getting to the campus police. He didn't even say sorry or even pay attention to those students that he hit while walking. I don't even know if this is stil considered as walking. I can't keep up, why is this man so fast? "Why?" "Hmm?" I need act as if I have no idea. "You obviously have question to me. Questions to be exact. What is it?" Ugh! I can't really hide everything from this guy. "Well... Do you really think someone else texted Madeline and not Michael himself?" He looked at me and halt, "Are you doubting me?" "Wha- No. Of course not. I am just... It's a possibility that-" "...'s not worth listening to." He finished my sentence. "Look, in every case you need to really pay attention to every possibilities. But paying attention is different from considering. You can't consider something that's not a solid as the other one. If I may ask you. What makes you think that Michael set Madeline up?" "I guess I'm wrong," It was lame but I didn't want to put up a fight if it's not that necessary and especially he has knowledge with these things than I do. "That person might be connected to the person who abducted you." I looked at him, "What?" "If ever we'll find that person, we might actually have something to conclude your case and my case. So lets go." When we entered the campus police. There wasn't that much people around. They're probably roaming around the school while the others are having their break. The cool breeze of the air condition is freezing. Should've brought a sweater since the weather today is a bit coolder than the normal one. I turned around and saw Lorcan who was about to put his suit on my back. "You just put it." The suit nearly fell if it was for my elbow. This guy! Can't even be a gentleman. Minutes later after Lorcan talked to the officer on the counter, Officer Bernard showed up wearing the same type of uniform but obviously different clothes. "Lorcan. Chloe." "Good day, Officer!" He replied with a single nod. "Lets make it fast, Officer. What's the update?" The man sighed, "We found nothing." "What about his statement?" "He's denying it. He keeps saying he loves her and would do anything for her even taking lives from people." And he did. What a way of doing person a favor. "Signs of insanity?" "Positive. So far he's saying words regarding what he did and about the young lady." "PTSD." Lorcan whispered but I don't the Officer heard it. "Anyways, thanks again Officer. You know you're the only I can rely to on this times." "No worries just don't forget what I told you." "Never." Then we bid farewell except Lorcan who's back in his fast-paced walk. "Wait. Lorcan." He halted and looked directly at me. "What now?" ------------------------------------------ "We don't want to disappoint but their classmates don't want to give statements about him." After the interaction in the campus police, we chose to go back to our clubroom. We're now all sitting on the couches. Dustin is on my left side beside Minji and in front was Lorcan who was usually quiet. Nothing changed. I can't even guess what's on his mind right now. "But I sensed something suspicious." Minji finished her sentence. "What is it?" Lorcan asked. "Instead of mourning, students from their class seems so happy this day. I tried asking them why but they always replied with 'its none of your business'." Seconds of silence has occurred. Then seconds turn to minutes. "Guys I have an idea." Dustin spoke out of nowhere probably not used to mood being so quiet. We all looked at him waiting for his so called idea. "Why don't we eat first? Classes will start in a few minutes but we still have time to take our lunch." "I opposed to the idea," Lorcan immediately turned it down, "First of all, I'm not hungry. Seco-" He was about to finish his sentence when we heard something growl. Could it be? "Not hungry huh?" Dustin sounded like he's teasing him. "I do not oppose to your idea, Dustin. We should take a break also since the club president needs it." Minji stated. "Alright, 2 voted for yes and 1 voted for no. So the result is in the mind of our..." Dustin seem to be thinking about my position in the club. "... Annalist." We all turned to Lorcan. Then he motioned his head on me, indicates that they need my answer. "I'm not really hungry but this is an oppurtunity for us to get to know each other better so why not?" "So is it a yes or a no?" Lorcan is seemingly impatient. "Yes!" "Woohoo! Alright then lets go." Dustin lead the way, beside was the bespectacled girl named Minji. "Why did you say Annalist?" I whispered to so no one will hear us changing words. "Because you're an Annalist, aren't you?" "You haven't told me about this thing yet." "Alright Chloe, you're the Annalist of the club. Fair enough?" I sighed. Not answering that question. How is it fair if he's the one who picked the position for me? We arrived at the cafeteria after minutes of walking. The cafeteria is actually big. I don't even know if you can call this a cafeteria. It somehow resembles a restaurant. They served us our ordered freshly cooked. This is my first time eating in here and its fun that I have someone or some people to be with. "Tish pashta ish ja besh." Dustin commented while his mouth is filled with carbonara. "What? Don't ever talk when your mouth is full." Minji warned him. Dustin was looking at something else so he didn't seem to focus on what Minji had said. Minji turned to where he's looking at so am I and... "Wat?" Lorcan asked awkwardly with his mouth full of meat and all other stuff from his burger. We all laughed. This guy! I thought he is not hungry then how can he explain this moment later. "Ommf. I should've take a picture of that." Dustin teasing Lorcan and Lorcan not finishing the food because he is embrassed. I shooked my head and unintentionally looked the other way. Why would someone go in that dark shade when you can stay up on the bright side? I'm talking about the girl. The girl who looked like she was watching us from afar.
