Chapter Four – Enlightenment
Soon after breakfast the following morning, the Professor came into the room and greeted him. “Good morning. The weather is fine, so I trust you are ready for our little exploratory walk?”
Horace confirmed he was ready and eager. However, once he was outside the building in the bright morning sun, he soon discovered that walking out in the open was very different from what he had been used to before. With no white walking stick now, to feel his way and steady him, he wavered and staggered somewhat at first. After a while, he began to learn to use his eyes to help control his balance even in spite of the dark glasses the nurse had given him.
With every step, Horace gained more and more confidence. They crossed the main road together and then proceeded to walk
