Chapter Six – Beckmann The inside of the house seemed very gloomy and menacing to Horace. He was still wearing his dark glasses, and there was no way he could remove them with the two kidnappers gripping his arms so tightly. Stumbling along between them, he was led through a broad hallway and into a large dining room. The little foreign-looking man was waiting for them with his arms outstretched in an apparent and unexpected gesture of welcome. The two men let go of Horace, and he was at last able to remove his dark glasses and put them safely into his jacket pocket.
