And it risks increasing our detectable footprint. They might be using Vanessa and Dylan as bait, and any active surveillance from our end could alert them to our presence."
The dilemma was agonizing. Protect Aria by developing the dampener, draining resources and potentially making them more visible. Or investigate Vanessa and Dylan, using more resources and risking direct detection by the very forces they were hiding from. Both paths led to increased vulnerability.
