She kept talking.
My heart was pounding so hard I could barely hear my own thoughts over the rush of blood in my ears.
"Silvia—" I tried again, desperate to make her understand.
"No!" she screamed, her voice raw with emotion, tears of frustration and fear filling those golden eyes. "I am not jumping out of a speeding death trap! You can go get yourself killed if you want, but I'm not joining you, and I'm definitely not letting innocent people die because of us!"
If we weren't facing imminent death, I might have admired her fierce determination.
Instead, I clenched my jaw so tightly my teeth ached.
