Jason suddenly smirked.
“Wait… are you jealous?”
Hazel scoffed immediately.
“Jealous? Never.”
“Then do you like her?”
Hazel answered without hesitation.
“No. I honestly don’t.”
Jason sighed softly.
“You shouldn’t judge her too quickly.”
“Well, I still don’t like her.”
“Please try to be her friend,” Jason requested gently.
Hazel laughed shortly.
“That sounds impossible.”
“Please. For my sake?”
Hazel stared at him for a few seconds before finally nodding slowly.
“Fine. I’ll try.”
Jason smiled brightly.
“Thank you.”
Hazel rolled her eyes playfully.
“Don’t get too excited.”
Jason chuckled softly.
“So… which lucky guy has been asking you out?”
Hazel shrugged casually.
“No one important.”
Jason looked directly into her eyes.
“You’re beautiful, Hazel. Men must be falling over themselves just to talk to you.”
Hazel felt her cheeks warm again.
“Am I really that beautiful?”
“Yes,” Jason answered sincerely. “You always have been.”
Hazel smiled mischievously.
“More beautiful than Kayla?”
Jason laughed softly.
“Now you’re definitely jealous.”
“I’m not. Just answer.”
Jason leaned forward slightly.
“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.”
Hazel dramatically placed a hand on her chest.
“Oh my gosh… my head is swelling already!”
Jason burst out laughing.
“You’re still crazy, Hazel.”
Suddenly, the office door opened.
“Jessica!” Hazel exclaimed happily.
She rushed over and hugged her tightly.
Jessica pulled back in surprise.
“Hazel?! What are you doing here?”
“It’s a long story,” Hazel laughed. “But first, meet my best friend Jason. And Jason, meet my new friend Jessica.”
Jason and Jessica stared at each other for one second before bursting into laughter.
Hazel frowned.
“Why are both of you laughing?!”
Jessica laughed harder.
“Because… Jason is my brother!”
Hazel’s eyes widened instantly.
“Oh my gosh! I totally forgot!”
Jessica grinned.
“You really are impossible.”
Hazel suddenly looked confused.
“Wait… your name used to be Jacie.”
Jessica nodded proudly.
“I changed it to Jessica years ago.”
Hazel laughed softly.
“You people really love confusing others.”
She checked the time suddenly.
“Oh no! I need to get back to work before Kayla kills me.”
Jessica chuckled.
“Alright then. See you later.”
Hazel waved and hurried out of the office.
As soon as Hazel entered Kayla’s office, she was met with an icy glare.
“So you finally remembered you have work to do?” Kayla snapped immediately.
Hazel remained calm.
“My job is to assist you. That’s exactly why I’m here.”
Kayla scoffed loudly.
“Please. Your work is whatever I tell you to do. You’re just a secretary.”
Hazel tilted her head slightly.
“And what exactly will you be doing while I handle everything?”
Kayla’s expression darkened instantly.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I can’t be doing all the work while you sit around doing nothing,” Hazel replied boldly.
“Who is the boss here?!” Kayla shouted angrily.
“You are,” Hazel answered simply.
“Exactly!” Kayla yelled proudly. “And technically, I’m not even supposed to be working. I’m only here because I’m the future wife of the CEO.”
Hazel laughed dryly.
“I’m glad you used the word ‘future’… because honestly, I don’t think that wedding is ever happening.”
Kayla narrowed her eyes dangerously.
“And who exactly is going to stop it?”
Hazel stepped closer calmly.
“Maybe me.”
Kayla scoffed loudly.
“My family is powerful and influential. Nothing can stop me from becoming Mrs. Jason Volz.”
Hazel looked at her with pity.
“So you’re only after his money, fame, and status?”
Kayla folded her arms proudly.
“And what’s wrong with that?”
Hazel shook her head slowly.
“You don’t love him.”
“I do love him,” Kayla snapped quickly. “But I love his wealth even more.”
Hazel stared at her in disgust.
“You’re unbelievable.”
Kayla smirked proudly.
“You wouldn’t understand because your family isn’t on my level.”
“Can you just shut up already?” Hazel snapped suddenly.
Kayla looked shocked.
Hazel stepped closer fearlessly.
“You keep bragging about your family background like it makes you special. You behave like a spoiled child who thinks money gives her the right to insult everyone.”
Kayla pointed angrily at her.
“How dare you speak to me like that?!”
Hazel didn’t back down.
“Nobody bullies me, Kayla. Nobody.”
Kayla’s entire body trembled with anger.
“I’ll tell Jason everything!”
Hazel laughed sarcastically.
“Go ahead. Let’s see who he believes.”
Kayla froze angrily.
“And don’t forget there are CCTV cameras everywhere,” Hazel added calmly.
Kayla’s face turned red with rage.
“You useless girl! I’ll ruin you!”
Hazel smirked.
“I honestly feel sorry for Jason. Imagine ending up with someone like you.”
Kayla clenched her fists tightly.
“Anything else, Boss?” Hazel asked mockingly.
Kayla breathed heavily before speaking.
“Just stay here and handle everything while I’m gone!”
“Going somewhere?”
“Mind your business!” Kayla snapped.
Hazel smiled sweetly.
“I only wanted to know where you were rushing off to report me.”
Kayla cursed angrily under her breath before storming out of the office and slamming the door violently behind her.
