Chapter 8Radhi poured himself a cup of coffee from the little percolator on the grill. He’d had a good night’s sleep, getting back from the cave before dark. The brew came out black. “Where’s the milk?” Oscar looked up from his camp chair. “Not much left. I think it soured.” The coffee’s tempting smell filled Radhi’s nose. He sipped, not bad, strong. Sitting next to Oscar, he raked his toes through warm sand. “How’s the ice chest holding out?” “Melted. All that’s left are hotdogs. They should last until dinnertime. I boiled the rest of the eggs.” Oscar passed the bowl. “Want one?” “No thanks.” Coffee first, breakfast after. He shouldn’t be surprised but couldn’t believe it.
