Chapter 16Oscar started the fire for morning coffee. He used the last of the wood. Tomorrow he might gather more if he could find it. The little metal percolator hissed on its stone perch above the flames. Thank goodness it had floated in the flash flood, like a tiny submarine surfacing. They still had ground coffee for a few days. He opened a can of beans, careful not to crush it with the rock. Food was running short, unless he caught more fish. He hoped to, but not like the one from yesterday.
