“What about the traitor?” Nathaniel asked pointing at me with an accusation I simply deserved.
The word traitor kept stabbing me like sharp knives would, bringing my guards down. But it was something I deserved to be called for betraying them. I knew they weren’t going to kill me for what I had done. Then again, maybe I deserved to die.
Karen was staring at me.
“I’ll stay here,” I maintained my composure. “Drachen will come here once he is done with the first wave to convince Karen. I’ll try to keep him here to buy you time.”
I knew I couldn’t.
“Oh no, you don’t get to stay here,” Victor jabbed his index finger at my chest. He did that often. “I know he will kill you when he’ll learn that you’ve betrayed him. I’m the one who should kill you, not him.”
