CHAPTER 7 - DERCIK'S POV

1047 Words
I stretched and flexed my arm, ''I thought I'd be a cripple, and now...'' I turned to my mate, walked over and scooped her up. I spun her around laughing, and she squealed in surprise, ''Thanks to you. I am perfectly fine. Honey, what a blessing you are! ''Ahh, put me down,'' She giggled, but I just playfully dipped her before cradling her close to my chest. ''Never,'' I said in joy, ''I have to give you a reward for helping your King. Name it and it's yours. I.. You said you wanted a peaceful life, and while I can't give you that. I can give you an escape. I have a few small private islands. I'll transfer one into your name and give it to you on your birthday tomorrow and we can go there for holidays. And... Even if you do reject me. It'll still be yours.'' ''You don't have to do that.'' ''Yes I do. You have done so much more than just healed me.'' We looked into each other's eyes, and I couldn't help it. Her lips looked so soft and I kissed her. It wasn't the tentative, careful kiss I'd intended, it was the kiss of a man who had claimed his destiny. The sweetness of her taste sent a jolt of fire through my veins. Emboldened by her soft sigh, I tightened my arms around her waist and moved with a fluid, predatory grace. I placed her back on the bed, and climbed over her. I had two goals. I wanted to pleasure her, and I wanted her to fully forget the Omega. I'll bet my entire Kingdom on the fact that he'd never kissed her like this. When she moved her hands to my shoulders, I took her wrists and pinned her hands above her head, holding her down, not to hurt her, but to feel the frantic, wonderful beat of her pulse against my palms. I deepened the kiss, my tongue seeking hers. She began to moan, a low, melodic sound of surrender that made my head spin. She wasn't fighting me. Had she really meant it? Was she accepting me? I began to kiss down her jaw, towards her throat, enjoying her taste as I sucked hard on her marking area. Tomorrow. Only one more day and she'd be mine. I'd mark her and that f*cking boy would be in the past. But then, just as the world began to blur into a haze of desire and I started to get hard, she stiffened. After a few seconds of breathless intensity, she suddenly pulled her hands free with a burst of strength I hadn't expected. She shoved me back with a firm palm to my chest, scrambling toward the edge of the mattress before getting onto her feet. ''What are you doing?'' I asked in surprise. She stood by the door, breathing hard. She was bright red, the flush creeping from her collarbone to the tips of her ears. Even from the bed, I could smell her arousal, that intoxicating mix of rain-washed cedar and honey, spiking sharply in the small room. ''I have to go," She stammered, her voice breathless and frantic. She smoothed her dress with trembling hands, refusing to meet my gaze. "I'm glad you're healed.'' Before I could stop her, before I could even find my voice to call her back, she bolted. The door clicked shut, leaving me alone in the sudden silence of the room. I let out a low, guttural growl of sheer frustration and threw myself back onto the pillows. I stared up at the ceiling, my heart still hammering a war drum against my ribs. ''Damn it!'' I pouted angrily, ''What Alpha can't lock it down with his own mate!'' Dash laughed at me, but I growled again and he fell silent. I sat up and waited until I was no longer hard, before I lifted the tub, ''Our mate's very talented. We're lucky to have her.'' ''I agree.'' Dash responded as I walked over to Noah's bedroom and knocked before going it. My brother was sitting on his bed reading a scroll, and tapping his foot as he hummed, ''Where's my sister-in-law going? Why was she running away? What did you do this time?'' ''Tried to seduce her, but it failed.'' I shrugged, and walked over to him. Noah laughed and shook his head, ''Just give it time.'' ''I know.'' ''You should... wait. What the hell? How have you healed?'' I laughed, ''How did I pick a Beta who's so slow to observe something so serious?'' ''Answer me. Did the curse break?'' He asked, and quickly pulled off the bandage around his arm, only to frown at his own burn. ''No. I'm still hurt.'' ''Check this out,'' I said as I tossed him the tub, ''Cora made it. It heals better than a white Lycan's healing power. She's got a power passed down from her witch ancestor. She can mix potions. She just healed me with it.'' ''Do you think she can break the curse?'' He asked as he applied some on his burn. ''No idea, but I don't need her too. I just want her.'' ''How long does it take?'' ''A few minutes.'' My brother looked up at my chest again, ''I can't believe how well it works. There's not even scars.'' ''She's got a gift.'' I smiled, ''Oh, find some time today to write up a transfer from my name to Cora's for one of my islands. It's a gift for her healing me.'' ''I'll get it done, but you really are playing favorites,'' He pretended to be upset. ''I've asked you for one of those islands before and you turned me downn.'' I rolled my eyes, ''You were 21, and wanted to throw a massive party, and ruin the scenery there.'' ''I told you. I was going to have it all restored.'' ''Yeah, sure you would have,'' I said, as I looked around the already messy room. ''I'm going to enjoy a nice hot bath now that I no longer have any burns. You should be okay to wipe that off now. Don't waste it and keep it safe. Cora doesn't want her father to find out about it. So keep it secret.'' ''Will do.''
