The Magician’s Revelation The cavern was damp and eerily quiet, the air thick with the scent of wet stone. The underground lake stretched out before them, its surface shimmering with an unnatural glow. Ena, Alex, and Oliver stood at the edge, their breaths uneven, their hearts pounding in anticipation of what was to come. Alex wiped the sweat from his brow and muttered, “I was almost dead back there.” His voice carried exhaustion, but more than that, frustration. The events leading up to this moment had been anything but easy. Ena, keeping her gaze fixed on the water, spoke in a hushed yet firm tone. “The boy isn’t alert now. That magician… he can do anything. And if he comes out, before he even speaks, we must bow before him. We have to show that we are not here to steal anything.” Alex scoffed, crossing his arms. “Why should we bow to him? What have we done to him?” His voice held defiance, unwilling to submit so easily. Ena turned sharply to face him. “Alex, understand the situation,” she said, her eyes narrowing. “He is an angry man. If we speak with authority, he might not harm us. And anyway… no one here is like us.” A sudden ripple disturbed the surface of the water. The glow beneath the lake flickered as if something was shifting, something ancient and powerful. The temperature seemed to drop as the energy in the cavern shifted. Then, without warning, the water parted. A towering figure rose from the depths, draped in long, dark robes that clung to him like shadows. His silver eyes gleamed under the dim light, his face unreadable yet intimidating. Water dripped from his outstretched fingers, and his presence alone seemed to command the very air around them. His gaze swept over them before he finally spoke, his voice deep and resonant. “You people have so much courage…” The moment those words left his lips, Ena, Oliver, and Alex exchanged glances before instinctively bowing, their heads lowered in submission. The weight of his presence was suffocating, pressing against their very existence. The magician observed them for a long, tense moment. Then Oliver, choosing his words carefully, spoke. “We have not come to take anything from you,” he said in a steady voice. “We are searching for a thief.” The magician’s eyes narrowed slightly. His raised hand lowered, but suspicion remained in his stance. “And how do you know that something of mine has been stolen?” Ena and Oliver slowly straightened, preparing to explain. But Alex, lost in thought, remained bowing. Ena glanced at Oliver, barely able to contain her amusement. Oliver, too, was suppressing a grin. The magician turned to Alex and sighed. “Stand up. I will not do anything to you now.” Alex, realizing his mistake, looked up to see that both Ena and Oliver were already standing. Embarrassed, he quickly stood up, brushing off his clothes as if to regain his composure. Clearing his throat, he finally said, “That magic mirror is yours, isn’t it?” The magician’s expression darkened. “Yes,” he admitted, his voice laced with something between regret and anger. “That mirror is a very precious artifact. It is no ordinary object—it has the power to open a portal to another world. I had to keep it safe… but a thief stole it and vanished.” Oliver frowned, crossing his arms. “Wait a second,” he said, glancing at Ena. “She looks like a thief… so didn’t you suspect her?” Ena blinked, momentarily caught off guard. “What?” she snapped, glaring at Oliver. But in the back of her mind, something clicked. I never thought of this before… The magician, too, hesitated for a moment, a shadow of realization crossing his face. Then he spoke. “The thief’s eyes were brown. The girl’s eyes were blue. With the mirror’s power, the thief traveled to her world… and you th one ended up in this one.” Alex’s lips curled into a smirk. “Whoa! You must’ve known this already.” He folded his arms, tilting his head slightly. “There was no need to explain. You figured it out yourself.” The magician remained silent, his gaze unreadable. Then, in a slow, deliberate voice, he asked, “Now… tell me why you have come here to meet me.” The Forbidden Path The magician’s piercing gaze remained fixed on them, his silver eyes reflecting the dim glow of the underground cavern. The tension in the air was thick, almost suffocating. Ena, Oliver, and Alex stood their ground, unwavering. Alex took a deep breath before speaking. “We need to know how the mirror works.” His voice was steady, filled with determination. “With its help, we can catch the thief and take back what he stole.” The magician’s expression darkened instantly. His eyes flashed with anger, and his presence seemed to grow heavier, as if the very air around them had thickened. “No!” he thundered, his voice echoing through the cavern walls. “You cannot do that.” Th “You must give up this foolish desire,” the magician continued, his tone laced with warning. “Forget about the thief. Forget about the mirror. Go back to your world and make your lives better. Do not chase after something that will only bring you ruin.” His voice, though commanding, carried a trace of something else—something almost like fear. But Alex clenched his fists, his anger rising. His jaw tightened, and his heart pounded in his chest. “No!” he shot back, his voice unwavering. “I can’t sit quietly and let this go. You have to tell us how the mirror works. We will live our lives on our own terms, not according to your fears!” Ena and Oliver exchanged nervous glances, sensing the rising storm between them. The magician’s expression turned even colder. “If you do this,” he warned, his voice dangerously low, “then all of you will die.” The words hung in the air, heavy and final. A long silence followed. Ena’s breath caught in her throat. Oliver shifted uncomfortably. But Alex… Alex remained unmoved. “Then so be it,” he said firmly. His eyes held no hesitation, only fierce determination. Turning toward Ena and Oliver, he exhaled sharply. “I’ll go alone,” he declared. “I don’t want anyone else to get into trouble because of me.” His words cut through the air like a blade, sharp and resolute. Ena’s heart clenched, and Oliver’s brows furrowed. But before they could protest, Alex turned back to the magician, his gaze unwavering. “Just tell me how to use the mirror.”
