Drew only barely restrained himself from running up several flights of stairs to get to the eighth floor. His patience ran thin as he waited for the elevator. Are you freakin kidding me? It’s after nine o’clock on a Friday night. No one’s here. What’s taking this damn thing so long? At long last, the doors opened, and he flung himself inside, pressing the number eight key repeatedly. But to his dismay, her office door was locked, the dark window making it obvious she wasn’t in. What next? He returned to the elevator and headed for his office.
