One year later, Trixie beamed with pride as Drew stepped up and cleared his throat.
“If I could have everyone’s attention, please,” he said into the podium’s microphone on a perfect late fall morning in Nacogdoches, Texas.
The one-hundred-plus audience settled in to listen.
“We’re thrilled you all could be here today,” he began. “What started as a childhood dream so many years ago is at last now a reality. The facility we’ve built here will house animals that for whatever reason can’t be placed in forever homes. I’ve loved animals as far back as I can remember, and I feel very blessed to be able to help, protect, and care for those that might otherwise be a tragic statistic. We want to thank you all very much for your support, and we welcome you to the grand opening of Another Try.”
