In the household of the Stevens family, however, nothing has been as usual for a long time. The servants were dwindling, and even the few that remained were in charge of the care of the grand family estate, not the running of the household. The estate spread over an area of ​​about two acres, and in addition to the swimming pool, it also included a private pond with its own fish breeding, a church, a mini zoo, servants' quarters, stables,..., and, of course, also private gardens - not only for growing ornamental flowers for the purpose guests, but to grow their own vegetables so that the owners can be sure of the origin of the food.

The mansion itself consisted of two floors, while only the second floor with bedrooms, reception rooms, library, study, dining rooms, bathrooms, wardrobes and a ballroom was designed for family members. On the ground floor, the maids work, as the kitchen, laundry, ironing room, and warehouse were located there. The driveway led around the mansion to the terrace, which was accessed from a small dining room and ballroom. On the opposite side of the driveway were wide marble steps that led you down to the garden. Countless windows were placed on the eastern and western outer walls, which reached to the ground when entering the terrace from the small dining room and social hall. The facade was white and under the gable roof was an unused attic. With a massive brass gate at the entrance, it would make you look amazing and majestic. But at Sunlight it was standard.

In the north wing of the house that belonged to Emily, a group of four girls were waking up from a not-so-deep sleep.

"Klára," Chloe spoke first and threw a pillow at Klára.

"Come on, Klára, wake up."

"Please Chloe, as if you don't know that the only thing that will take her over is a bucket of ice. Why do you have to wake us up too?" said Esmeralda, a little angry.

"Just squish her nose and she'll stop snoring," Emily interjects. Both girls, already awake, looked in her direction. "What? I read that somewhere. And I don't have an ice bucket, so we'll have to let her sleep?"

"Then send the maid for it" Chloe says, but stands up and pinches Klara's nose for a brief moment with a disgusted grimace. "It works. By the way, you should find someone to do this. It's disgusting." Chloe states, throwing a robe made of the same material over her white silk pajamas and walking over to the leftover food in the parlor, left over from last night's party.

"New servants? And for what? You know very well that I haven't received pocket money for 2 months, and my father has fired so many servants that there is no one to cook for us here. Klarisa wouldn't even have prepared this feast yesterday , if I hadn't promised her that I would prepare this wing for your arrival," says Emily, and bows her head.

“That explains why this food is still here." Chloe says casually and scrunches up her nose at all the food that belongs in the fridge. "But the pastry is still edible," she continues, and reaches for the poppy seed roll.

Esmeralda asks, clearly still in shock, taking a closer look at the burgundy and cream floral and balloon decorations in the bedroom and parlor, which created a pleasant contrast to the white and vanilla furnishings of the north wing with gold decorations, while the rooms stayed not over saturated with colors.

"Do you ever listen to me? I've been telling you for 2 months now how my father fires servants even for the smallest offense, for the color of their hair, and there is no replacement. He fired everyone who came for an interview too. Mom is desperate, she doesn't even bother to look for anyone anymore , since everyone who meets the interview requirements has already been there, and coming to the same door twice to beg is not only humiliating, but also pointless in such a short period of time. She fired Stephanie too, because he allegedly found her hair on my coat. I couldn't even comment on that," Emily says in a tearful voice, and slowly moves into the parlor to Chloe.
