I stepped forward. “I'll pair up with him,” I said. “Peyton can pair up with Lucas.”
“Thank you,” Peyton breathed out in relief like I did her some big favour. But I wasn't doing her any favour, I just didn't like how they were making Kyle feel.
“Fine,” Cassandra surprisingly didn't object, and I was grateful.
The training started off with basic drills, and I understood early on that Kyle wasn't exactly…coordinated. But I decided to be patient with him, ignoring the snickering from most of the trainees.
