TWO WEEKS LATER
Ezekiel’s(Zeke) POV
“First time in centuries,” Kian muttered, as we pulled up in front of the council building at Mystic-hollow Pack.
“Let's see if it's worth the trouble,” I said, taking in the structure of the building that looks more like a rundown castle, than a council building.
Like Kian said this was the first time in centuries that Lycans and Werewolves were coming together for anything whatsoever. It already feels like an anomaly being in their territory.
I stepped out of the car immediately after my dad, then Kian followed suit, before we made our way towards the council building, where a man stood at the entrance
“Welcome to Mystic-hollow, King Thornton,” he greeted with a smile that was clearly forced. “I'm Gamma Giovanni,” he introduced himself, extending his hand for a handshake to my Dad, who accepted it willingly. “And these are?” he turned to Kian and I.
“My son's, Kian and Ezekiel.”
Kian gave a curt nod, but I didn't pretend to care.
“This way please. We've been expecting you.”
The Gamma led us inside and just as we got close to the meeting hall, loud agitated voices could be heard..
“We don't need the help of those arrogant jerks!” someone said from inside the hall. “They'll just rub it in our faces for generations to come!”
“What a warm reception,” I said, loud enough for the Gamma to hear.
“Zeke,” my dad cautioned, and I just nodded in understanding.
The Gamma pushed the meeting doors open, and as soon as we stepped in, the room fell silent.
“Cowards,” my wolf Zane mocked in my head, and I couldn't agree more.
A man with a strong alpha aura walked towards us, and introduced himself. “Alpha Knight of Goldencrest Pack,” he extended his hand.
“King Thornton,” my dad shook his hand firmly.
Alpha Knight nodded, and gestured towards the seats. There was only one empty seat, which tells me they weren't expecting Kian and I to be here.
“Gentlemen,” my dad greeted with a nod as he took his seat, while Kian and I stood behind him.
The werewolves grumbled under their breath in response, but my dad was unfazed, and got straight to the point.
“We need to put aside past grievances for the sake of something more important,” my dad began. “We’re under attack–”
“Yeah. Because you Lycan's let it through your border,” one of the Alpha's accused.
“Watch your tongue old man!” I glared at the Alpha.
“I'm just stating facts,” he scoffed, leaning back in his chair. “Lycan's are the reason we're in this mess. We're all paying the price because you can't secure your borders.”
“Our borders are fine,” I shot back with a glare. “Maybe you should worry about your own,” I continued. “Considering even your strongest wolves can't hold their ground against an average werebear.”
He slammed his fist on the table and stood up. “How dare you insult us!” he growled, and some Alpha's murmured in agreement, as they shot me a glare.
“I'm just stating facts,” I mimicked his statement, taking a step forward and daring him to do his worst, because I'm more than happy to teach him some manners.
“Zeke!” My dad growled through the mindlink. “That’s enough. Go sit in the car.”
I scoffed, and made my way to the door.
“This is not a time for petty arguments,” my Dad said, trying to salvage the situation. “The threat we face is far greater than any of us individually.”
I slammed the door behind me, hearing my dad's last words.
“Let's go for a run,” Zane suggested, his anger mirroring mine.
“We can't, Z,” I responded, as I got out at the council building, clueless on what to do next. I wasn't a five year old that gets grounded to sit in the car, I needed to clear my head, even though shifting seemed like the only way to at the moment.
The only way that I would be able to expend all of this energy is to just keep walking, hopefully by the time I got back they would be done with that ridiculous meeting.
Honestly if anybody needed help it was the werewolves, because I'm pretty sure Lycans can hold their own against a werebear.
The deaths reported from our territories must have been ambushes and not face-to-face attacks anyway. I kicked a loose pebble on the floor.
At this point I'm not even sure where I am, it seemed like a park of some sort.
“Where are you?” Kian’s voice rang in my head.
“The park, I think.”
“You can't just wander off in werewolves territory like that.”
“Don't care,” I retorted. “Also, are you going to tell them about the werebear you were chasing from our territory that ran into theirs?”
“And risk letting the werewolves know that I was in their territory two weeks ago?” He asked, and I could already imagine him furrowing his brows. “No, thank you.”
“Just let me know once the meeting is over,” I told him and shut the mindlink.
About ten minutes after shutting Kian off, and walking aimlessly, Zane stirred inside of me, and I froze, as the scent of fresh rain and lilacs wafted into my nose.
The scent was soft and calm but it seemed to command my senses. I knew what it was, but a part of me couldn't believe it. How's this possible?
Before I could make sense of it, my legs began moving like they had a mind of their own.
My heart pounded with each step as the scent grew stronger, leading me towards a clearing, and that's when I saw her.
Her back was turned to me as she strolled away, oblivious of her surroundings as she was engrossed in the book she was reading.
I completely lost it at this point, as the thought of never seeing her again washed through me.
Without thinking I pulled her arm from behind, turning her to face me, and then enveloping her in a hug, my nose buried in the crook of her neck.
“Mine,” the words rumbled out of my chest as I filled my lungs with her scent, which immediately calmed every restless thought I had.
Her body stiffened for a brief second before relaxing into my touch.
Her scent was divine up close, and the sparks that shot through my body when I touched her felt like a thousand fireworks went off within me, it was heavenly!
We stayed like that for about two minutes, before she pulled away.
Pow! I felt a sharp sting on my left cheek.
“Get away from me!”
