Zuriel suddenly shouted behind me
“Oh hi” I said smiling at him
“Sexy and brilliant? A ten!” He teased like he just realized
“You just discovered?” I squinted
“How did your exam go?” He asked warmly hugging me
“Don’t ever hug me again” my voice was firm but my face was smiling
A trick I learnt over the years
“Yes ma’am” he bowed
“Biology was a walk over for real” I replied standing up
“Wanna grab lunch when school closes?” he asked ignoring my comment about how easy the biology exam was
“I said biology was a walk over” I repeated sounding mad at him
I’m pretty good at faking these expressions and emotions you know…
“Oh s**t my bad. I didn’t notice you bragging about how flawless you are at biology love” he smirked caressing my waist as we walked into the hallway
“When does your detention end? Mayyybeeeeee we could hang out” I said knowing fully well I have a single strict mom at home waiting for my ass
“And this started when?” An odd squeaky voice parted the hallway towards us
We looked back and I wasn’t surprised at all.

“You mean?” Zuriel looked at her with one eye brow raised

“Zuriiii” she squealed tugging at his shirt like those Disney cheerleaders
“Stop that please” he hissed at her and I was shocked
“Lil miss tutor’s mistress” Kayla turned towards me
“Shut it girlie” I responded getting impatient
“Who the f**k are you anyways?” She tried snapping at me but I have a mom who does worse every damn day
“Don’t you ever put your fingers in my face ever again! Got it!?” I’m not too tall but at that moment… I towered over her real good
“b***h” she walked away clearly defeated or whatever
“That was hot” Zuriel complimented kissing my forehead
Why am I no longer irritated at his presence?
“Okay you are not gonna do it back? I’m gonna feel stupid you know” he whined as we walked to the back of the school
“No I’m not gonna do it back. And yes you should feel stupid because you are stupid” I laughed at his babyness
“I knew pretty girls were mean”
“Stop trying to be cute blud” I laughed at him again
“Have you ever been to this part of school before?” He asked guiding me to the bench we approached
“No actually. School is already annoying enough, why should I explore it?”

But this scenery we are both staring at is magical.
Something specially drafted by nature.
This wooden bench effortlessly complimenting the leaves on the tree dangling above us… the river wavering peacefully and the birds sitting pretty across the space.

“We should hang out here at night sometime you know” he said tucking my hair behind my ears
“Yeah I bet it would look really pretty at night” I was enthusiastically imagining here at night.
“Then I can stare at two heavenly beings at once” he said smoothly

“Okay but there’s something I…” he started and I instantly felt uncomfortable

I stood up from the wooden bench we were sitting on, took a deep breath and…
“Zuriel don’t. Whatever it is you want to say… don’t say it”
The softness and pure zeal on his face beamed. My heart leapt seeing his doe eyes and as he gently let go of my hand… I knew this feeling was mutual.
“I’ll see you around” was all he said slowly standing up and without a second glance at me, he walked back into the school building.
I can’t help it.
We’re in our last year… in fact last month of high school and suddenly we have feelings for each other??
