“Mom, mom.” The words slowly penetrated the Dani’s deep sleep. She was tired and didn’t want to get up. “Mom.” “What?” she cracked one eye open to find her son standing beside her bed, fully dressed. He held a mug in both hands. “We’re going fishing with Zach today, right?” “Huh?” she opened the other eye and picked her head up off the pillow. “What time is it?” “Seven thirty. Here,” he thrust the mug at her, “I fixed your coffee.” Crap. She’d been hoping to catch up on some of the sleep she wished she’d gotten during the work week. Twelve hour shifts and still wanting to spend time with your kid always left her sleep deprived. She sat up and took the mug, taking a small sip.
