Dani stepped out on the back deck of Zach’s cabin and looked around. She needed something to distract her from the flip-flops her stomach was doing. The deck was neat, much as it had been the last time she’d been out here when they’d gone out on the boat, the only thing that had changed was the stack of life vests was missing from the table. The scent of pine drifted on the breeze that brushed across her skin. “Have a seat,” Zach invited. Dani looked around and went to one of a pair of Adirondack chairs that faced the lake. Normally the low, laid back seating wasn’t her favorite but it would do for now. She sat and remained silent. She didn’t want to have to do this but she knew that to refuse would be childish.
