Episode 13 – Fire and Loyalty (Part 2 / Section 1) Night cloaked Johannesburg in electric silence. From the hills overlooking the city, the Khumalo mansion glowed like a fortress — quiet, guarded, alive. Inside, the air was thick with focus. The brothers gathered in the war room: Muzi with his medical bag in case things turned bloody, Jason scrolling through live feeds, Ntlaka leaning over blueprints of warehouse routes, and Jayden — the calm center of the storm. Jessica stood by the door, arms crossed, her hacker’s tablet still warm in her hands. Jayden: “Muzi, I want a silent med team on standby. No hospitals, no noise.” Muzi: “Done. The staff already know the drill.” Jayden: “Jason, track any Fang movement near our warehouses. Use drone sweeps and street cams.” Jason: “Already ahead of you. Three SUVs parked near the eastern dock — same coordinates they hit last night.” Ntlaka: “Let me guess. Armed?” Jason: “Heavily.” Jayden: “Then tonight, we end their test.” Jessica finally spoke, voice calm but firm. Jessica: “You’ll need more than force. The Fangs don’t move without digital eyes. I can take them offline.” Jayden turned to her — that look, the one that always made the air heavy. Jayden: “You promised.” Jessica: “And I keep my promises. I won’t go out there, Jay. I’ll work from the system, nothing more.” Jayden: “Even that’s risky.” Jessica: “So is breathing.” Jason grinned faintly. Jason: “She’s got a point.” Muzi: “She’s got too many points.” Ntlaka: “All of them sharp.” Jayden sighed, dragging a hand over his face. Jayden: “Fine. You monitor from here. The second anything looks wrong, you tell me. No hero moves.” Jessica: “Understood.” He stepped closer, his voice low enough only she could hear. Jayden: “I mean it, Jess. Stay here. Don’t follow.” Jessica: “I’ll be right here when you get back.” It wasn’t an argument — it was a promise. --- By midnight, the Khumalo convoy rolled through Johannesburg’s empty streets. Four black SUVs cut through the night, their engines purring like restrained beasts. At the docks, the air was thick with salt and diesel. Cranes loomed overhead like silent giants. Jayden stepped out first, adjusting his jacket, his eyes scanning every shadow. Jayden: “Positions.” Ntlaka: “South flank covered.” Jason: “Cameras looping. No one’s seeing this live.” Muzi: “Med team is two minutes out if needed.” From the mansion, Jessica’s voice came through Jayden’s earpiece — steady, professional, controlled. Jessica: “Jay, your eastern camera just tripped a motion sensor. Two hostiles on the ridge. Possibly scouts.” Jayden: “Copy that. Jason, handle it.” Jason: “On it.” Gunfire cracked once — short, efficient. Silence followed. Jessica: “Feed’s clear now. They’re probing your line.” Jayden: “They won’t like what they find.” He moved forward, shadow and muscle and command. At the dock’s center, under a flickering light, six men waited — dressed in black, masks down, weapons ready. And in front stood a tall man with a shaved head, a jagged scar slicing across his cheek. Jayden: “Mandla Thusi, I presume.” Mandla: “Khumalo.” His voice was gravel, slow and deep. “Didn’t expect you to come yourself.” Jayden: “You mark my warehouses. You threaten my blood. You think I’d send an errand boy?” Mandla: “You’ve grown soft. The Khumalos used to be feared. Now you run bars and smile for cameras.” Jayden: “Try me.” The tension stretched like wire. From the comm, Jessica whispered, her tone razor-sharp. Jessica: “Jay, his men have a drone overhead — thermal locked. Taking it down.” A heartbeat later, Mandla’s drone fizzled out of the sky. Mandla: “What the hell—” Jayden: “That was your mistake. You thought you were hunting alone.” And then the war began.
