Judi Bari addressed the crowd of all ages and dress from a platform in front of Pacific Lumber’s sawmill in Scotia, a long yellow building with stacks of logs beside it that would fill a football stadium to the top.
Short and strong-boned, with a long forehead, and pronounced nose and chin, Judi spoke as if the relentless force of the ocean was at her beck and call.
