Sorrel watched as Kayad shifted to look at the spot where he’d started to wild walk and then laughed. Kayad spun around and peered past the trees to spot Sorrel by the blueberry bush five metres behind where he’d been.
Kayad launched himself off the tree and into a glide before he flipped and landed in front of Sorrel. Kayad looked around the ground and then stared hard at Sorrel.
“It's neat right. It's how the elders are always moving stuff around the park. They just send their branches but I can move through it entirely.” Kayad reached out and grasped Sorrels hand and raised it to give it a sniff before he realised it with a sigh.
“It's called wild walking. Though as I said if I try to move between different forests or woods then there tends to be a time loss because it's never clear on how time is passing when each place senses it differently.” Sorrel patted his chest before he continued, “At the very least though I can easily find others in this forest and move about instantaneously.” Sorrel paused at the not very excited look Kayad was giving him and wondered if there was a problem.
“Is there a way to leave a scent trail when you do that so it would be easier for me to follow you,” Kayad asked slowly as he seemed to be indecisive about something.
“Hmm, I think so. I should be able to leave a polled trail from my flowers that will seep into reality through the wild corridors? I’ll try, you see if you can find me. We can practice our hide and seek skills with each other before we unleash them on our foes.” Sorrel smiled when he realised that Kayad had just been worried about the practicality of the matter.
With a determined nod Sorrel focused on his flowers increasing the aroma they released just slightly. Using less than half the mana that regenerated in five seconds. He paused to check with Kayad that the scent was strong enough. At his nod Sorrel once again wound around a pine tree and stepped back into the wild walk.
In a moment the pine forest shifted becoming a winding three-dimensional maze surrounded by writhing branched walls. The branches shifted with every moment while the ground was made of interwoven roots that twisted in every direction.
Sorrel placed a hand on one of the roots and allowed his senses to flow along its path. There to the west another presence walked above the roots. With a smile Sorrel shifted into a jog as he raced along the path of roots sliding and swinging through the tangle of plants before he came to a stop due east of the presence.
Sorrel wound his way out of the wilds at the middle of the tree, so he returned to the forest itself atop a sturdy branch fully obscured by the shroud of pine needles and the leaves of the other nearby trees.
Sorrel waited patiently as he felt the presence moving towards him. A few minutes later and the youngest of the Feyskin’s pupils, the leprechaun, crossed beneath the tree Sorrel crouched in. Sorrel wondered if he should act but paused. As the boy paused to look to the south he was settled.
Kayad dropped in from above and cleanly knocked him out. The strike to the back of the neck had the boy crumpling. He hit the ground as Kayad leapt into the tree and swung up on the branch beside Sorrel.
Sorrel raised a brow as he wondered if there were any issues. It must have worked for Kayad to be right behind him but he wanted the reassurance.
“It was fine, one down 14 to go.” Kayad replied with a nod.
“Yep, one kill for you, one assist for me. Actually how'd you do the sneaking at the bike club. That could come in handy here.” Sorrel swung down from the tree and walked over to Kayad.
“Counting assists are we? In that case I definitely can’t share. It will have to remain a secret,” Kayad responded with a laugh.
“Hmph, I’ll figure it out myself them.” Sorrel muttered. “You do whatever I’ll go find some more people.” Sorrel turned away and stepped back into the wilds.
It didn’t take long to find his next target. In fact there were two along the same path. Sorrel snickered to himself as he raced off. When he reached the area he shifted to a place between the two and phased out laying between two layers of branches. He spotted the Pantherskin crouched in the trees to his right while an Angelskin moved cautiously through the bushes below.
Kayad emerged further behind the Angelskin, he seemed to be a cupid, and approached quickly but the cupid sensed something and spun to face him. Unfortunately seeing him coming was of no use. Kayad easily shifted aside to avoid the lights benevolence racial control before sliding into the Angelskin’s personal space and then promptly tossing him over his shoulder when he took a wide swing at Kayad.
At the same time the Pantherskin shifted. He moved cautiously along the branches as he approached the fight. Sorrel figured that he was trying to be the oriole it was a pity for his planning though. As he walked over the top of Sorrel’s hiding place Sorrel took advantage of the opportunity and reached up to pierce one of his needles, from the untampered batch, into the base of his leg.
The Patherskin staggered and tried to reach down at Sorrel but overbalanced and lost his footing. As he started to fall Sorrel reached out and grasped him by the leg. When the cupid turned at the noise Kayad took advantage and knocked him out.
“Now what are you going to do with him?” Kayad turned and asked as he dusted his hands.
“ask my cousin here to put him on the ground.” Sorrel Shrugged and then used his free hand to tap the pine which obligingly grasped the Pantherskin about the waist and lowered him to the ground.
