Getting Classes 2.1

Sorrel quickly ran through the folder of teachers in his head to match the person to a name. Ephraim Northwood. Head of the Mathematics department and Doctor of advanced mathematics. High grade sorcerer that teachers Familiar Calling for first years and advanced spell circles for third years. When Sorrel didn’t respond fast enough Dr Northwood reached forward as if to pluck one of Sorrel’s flowers and sorrel prepared to get in to trouble on his first day when he stopped the man from killing himself only to be thankfully interrupted by another man that jogged up to the gate from the other side. “Dr Northwood did you not read my email regarding our new transfer student?” The new man was shorter than Dr Northwood with curly red hair and wore a knee length white coat. “Councillor, I have received no emails from you.” Dr Northwood returned in a cold tone. Sorrel realised at Dr Northwoods comment that this was likely the student councillor that Kayad had mentioned before. In the teacher files he was listed as Isaac Creat Doctor of Psychology and Psychiatry. He was one of the few completely normal and completely oblivious to the Others teachers at the school who taught an introductory Psychology class to second years with the possibility of an intermediary class for third year for those looking to study psychology at university. While also acting as the chief councillor for student well being at the school. Dr Creat stared at Dr Northwood for a long moment before he glanced at Sorrel and then explained, “Well, I expect the email was delayed, it sent it yesterday afternoon after seeing Sorrel at Arch mall and then bumping into his uncle, Michael Serie, who explained to me that as Sorrel’s parents have passed he has been raised by his family elders with extensive tutors and this would be his first time at an actual school.” Dr Creat noticed the other students gathering around the gate and listening intently and shot them all a look that had them moving back around and signing in with the teacher on the other side of the gate. “The flowers are a religious requirement for protection and mourning. They are to be placed in the same place in his hair everyday. I have a photo of the arrangement yesterday.” Dr Creat pulled out his phone and showed Dr Northwood a photo. “and as you can see the flowers are in exactly the same place and all the hair is neatly tucked away. I have already been assured by the principal that there would be no concerns for this matter as it has no negative effect on the appearance of the school,” Dr Creat finished and then turned to Sorrel without waiting for Northwood to comment further. “Come with me Sorrel, I’ll take you to the office and get you all signed in and your classes all settled. You can call me Dr or Councillor Isaac, Dr Creat is my father.” Dr Isaac smiled kindly at Sorrel before he started through the gate. Dr Northwood stepped aside but cast Sorrel a considering look as they passed. “Thank you, Dr Isaac. I wasn’t sure how to explain about the flowers.” Sorrel responded wondering if he could convince the nice human to give him a note or directions on how to explain if he has to tell anyone else. “Ah, I’m sure it must be difficult. While your getting your class list from the vice principle I will write you a note to give to any of the instructors that also haven’t gotten my email.” The way Dr Isaac mentioned people having not ‘gotten’ his emails had a slightly dark undertone that suggested bad things for anyone who admitted to that failing. Once they reached the office the student vice principal waited at the desk chatting idly with the receptionist. He turned and smiled as Sorrel followed Dr Isaac in. “Ah you must be young Sorrel, follow me I have your class choices sent through by your Uncle but let's just double check everything.” Hyl Lester was a Dr of theology and Mythology and taught the first year class the humans referred to as Mythological studies and the Others called basic history as well as working as the Other liaison with the normal teachers and students. So far as Sorrel was concerned from what he knew of the species Archdemon’s were the pinnacle of people relationships as they managed large factions in the demon realm including managing the frictions between competing individuals in a relatively resource scarce plane. Though she wondered if he felt stifled in the human realm given the much lower mana density. Sorrel knew the density had increased over the last decade, and the Demonskin was well blended with human energies suggesting that he settled when the first gate opened so he might be just used to it.
