Skipping, Stalking important studying 2.9

1013 Words
Kayad had decided to skip classes for the middle periods. Meteorology was whatever, not interesting without Sorrel and Kayad claimed practicing his skills for stealth magic. Dr Robert Alfair that taught stealth magic was listed as a Doctor of Criminology since Doctor of Assassination was frowned upon by the humans. The class taught magics and skills related to covert actions. While Dr Alfair said that class could be skipped and still be marked as attended so long as no one discovered them while they were not in class. So far Kayad maintained a perfect attendance despite only showing his face in class once. If he hadn’t ‘flunked’ the exam for his repeat they may not have let him retake it. Now on the second week in, Dr Alfair was likely expecting a similar result. Kayad lounged in the peppercorn with his presence obscuration magic cast over him. Even the deliberate searches of the campus grounds keeper missed him.  Thanks to being a mythic shifter active spell came more easily to Kayad and his past go round had given him plenty of practice. Kayad remained in place as the occasional instructor passed by along the path. While he studied the spell circle. It wasn’t complicated taken straight from the basic spell enhancements textbook. It was interesting that it had worked on the powdered plants and blended with mage magic but there was nothing noticeably distinct about it. It wasn’t until Sorrel exited the exam room that Kayad straightened attentively. As Sorrel was led past by Dr Johnson and Dr Williams Kayad shifted to a crouch and then shadowed the three until they reached the botanical garden. When Sorrel disappeared inside Kayad settled back to wait again. As he waited a strange ripple went through the peppercorn woods despite the complete lack of a breeze. Kayad looked around but found nothing out of the ordinary. When Sorrel was at last released and headed towards the Serenity Garden instead of back the way he had come Kayad was forced to change his plans. His intention of snagging Sorrel in the woods would have to be changed. Well, the snagging might still happen, but the venue needed an update. Kayad looked around and decided that a creative solution was needed. Casting a mild aversion charm Kayad called his beast and shifted out his wings. Kayad moved to the top of the tree and then launched himself into a glide to the roof of the main school building. A noise cancellation charm muffled the sound of his landing. Kayad then moved swiftly along the roof before he leapt out to catch the truck of an outer tree of the Serenity Garden. Rebalancing on the limb of the tree Kayad reverted his shift just as Sorrel reached the garden by walking along the path. Just as Kayad prepared to go down he noticed Daylen coming out of the main school building. Daylen looked around and then headed into the Serenity Garden after Sorrel. Kayad narrowed his eyes but refrained from interfering since there was more panic than purpose in the way Daylen moved. Sorrel stopped just after entering the garden and placed a hand on the nearest tree. A visible shudder went through him before Sorrel stepped back and looked at the tree. “Is this how a human feels visiting a coma patient?” Sorrel said as he shook his head and stepped further away from the tree before he glanced uneasily at the other trees around. Kayad frowned instantly at Sorrel’s mutter. From what he recalled Sorrel liked to say that plants were great gossips almost never stopping talking. It was why he’d worked so hard to be able to not listen all the time. To imply that the Serenity Garden was silent was concerning and Kayad didn’t like it. He hated that there were too many unknown variables in Sorrel’s first year and dearly wished that he’d paid more attention the first time so there wouldn’t be any mistakes this time. “There you are.” Daylen said as he came around a tree and spotted Sorrel again. Sorrel turned to face Daylen with a raised brow seeming to be distracted for the moment. Daylen stopped two meters way from Sorrel and looked at the ground as he spoke. “Listen, I just wanted to apologise for before. I was jealous of how easy it is for you and Kayad. Compared to how hard it is for me with Jasper. You're so relaxed about it as if it doesn’t even matter who or what Kayad is.” After Dylan spoke Kayad tilted his head almost bumping his skull against the tree trunk. Kayad hadn’t realised that Daylen had taken a liking to Jasper so early on. It definitely wasn’t apparent in the way he acted. Once Daylen spoke Sorrel relaxed slightly and then gestured for them to walk and talk. At the same time Kayad found it amusing that Daylen spoke to Sorrel about the issue. It seemed that Daylen had assumed that Kayad had already caught Sorrel. Kayad figured that his actions must have sufficiently marked his territory if Daylen was making assumptions. Even if the target himself hadn’t noticed. Kayad would have been shocked speechless if Sorrel, whose sole understanding of human interactions was based on adverts from the square market screens. As well as bits and pieces that had cropped up in knowledge studies from the elder trees had realised what dating looked like beside the over exaggerated dramatic snippets used to hook viewers. Kayad was certain that there was nothing but misconceptions in regards to the actions of humans in Sorrel’s mind at this point. A fact he intended to take full advantage of. It would be practically negligent not to. Kayad carefully moved at the same time as Sorrel did following the pair along the branches from a tree behind them.
