Making a Booking 3.23

1012 Words
Kayad remained silent as he followed Sorrel back to the BIRD club houses. He wasn’t sure what he’d done precisely but Sorrel had gone MIA as soon as they’d encountered Marvin. Originally, Kayad had thought that Sorrel just didn’t like the Demonskin but he’d been giving Kayad the silent treatment the entire trip back as well. When Sorrel passed his bike off to Cleo and headed straight for his room Kayad decided to follow. He didn’t like this annoyed atmosphere. Particularly when Sorrel was actually staying close and not going back to Shattered Senses. When Sorrel entered the Bloodied Petal clubhouse he glanced over towards the back where he could hear the sounds of laughter and games before he turned away and went upstairs. Kayad immediately followed. He must be unsettled about something to not want to be congratulated on his overwhelming victory in the competition. Kayad trailed Sorrel into his room and then paused after entering when he couldn’t spot Sorrel. Then the door was snapped closed behind him and Kayad turned to find Sorrel leaning against the wall beside the door.  “Something to say?” Sorrel asked. Kayad had originally been going to ask what was wrong but something in the way Sorrel spoke made it clear that he expected Kayad to already know what the issue was. So Kayad paused for a moment and ran through his thoughts. The problem appeared after they encountered Marvin. So Marvin had something to do with the issue. The main thing Marvin had done was flirt and then issue that challenge… well that was an interesting thought. Kayad wondered if Sorrel was jealous. Ha hadn’t had any clear indications of romantic interest on Sorrel's part but maybe he’d gotten lucky thanks to the annoyance. Kayad contemplated his responses; he needed one to determine if Sorrel was jealous that also wouldn’t come across as pretentious if Sorrel wasn’t jealous. “Just wondering what you want for your victory? While I had no intention of betting with that prat it’s entirely different with you.” Kayad watched as Sorrel relaxed before he offered a half smile. “Well it can’t make the same demand I’m sure Marvin was going to make but I reserve the right to make a booking.” Sorrel pushed away from the wall and moved over mimicking Marvin’s actions as he shifted into Kayad’s personal space. Kayad smiled slightly as he leant forward to meet him. “Oh? What are you booking?” Not to be out done Sorrel shifted even closer as he replied, “the elders said no dating until after my next birthday. So naturally reserving my spot as boyfriend until then.” Kayad almost started laughing. Sweet success, in his moment of distraction Sorrel shifted the balance and toppled Kayad onto the bed. When Sorrel leant over he pinned Kayad in place and stared down at him with an arched brow. “Naturally the position is reserved. Spot stealers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.” Kayad replied before he pushed up and planted a quick kiss on Sorrel’s cheek. “Now you’ll have to decide what you going to want as your birthday present, it’s early next year right?” Kayad tacked on his question as an afterthought. He’d be concerned if he’d missed his birthday this year. Although it might be alright if it was at the end of this year. “12th of January.” “Perfect. Mine is the 27th of November. To a happy postponed dating and a lovely current friendship.” Kayad smiled as he reached up and brushed a sneaky string of hair that was creeping forward back again. if he’d had a drink he would have wanted a toast. still he’d settle for a quick bit of skinship. Immediately Sorrel froze as he realised the position they were in before he straightened and moved back across the room. His steps were stiff, completely losing the normal human fluidity that Sorrel had. Kayad sat back up on the edge of the bed in an exceptionally good mood. So much so that when Sorrel’s hair started to unwind and stretch towards him he merely smiled and raised a hand in welcome. The hair froze mid extension and then snapped back to the normal looking braid and hung obediently behind Sorrel. Sorrel’s shoulders shifted as he took a deep breath before he turned back around to face Kayad. “I could not believe it when that shorty brunette started at you. The nerve of him just making a move on you.” Sorrel stamped his foot before he started to unpack his things. “Should have got his number then I could show him,” Sorrel muttered. Kayad straightened in his seat. There was absolutely no reason for repeat contact. Not even just to gloat. “Just because he could where whatever appearance does he think that’s good enough.” Sorrel set the last of his things down and then flopped into a chair. “Right Kayad.” Was there something about when Marvin changed his appearance. He still looked annoying as far as Kayad was concerned. More importantly why was Sorrel still thinking about him. They had just agreed to a delayed relationship and now he was thinking about that random demon. “Right, totally not worth more of our time. Class starts again next week, are you organised?” Kayad asked he wanted to move the topic away from the stupid demon even if that meant bringing up a distracting topic. “Yes, I’m particularly looking forward to alchemy this term since we start actually making charms.” Sorrel responded and the two fell into an easy conversation about the upcoming term.
