Unusual Morning 1.11

Sunday 8th of February 8:30am Jasper woke strangely early Sunday morning. He normally slept late but he had instead gotten up and dressed when he first woke up. He decided that he would head over to the shops to look at the new accessories they had gotten in last week. Due to one thing or another he hadn’t managed to get there during the week. Probably because he had spent too much time teasing Daylen but, boy was it worth it. Particularly, settling Daylen down last night. Jasper wondered if Daylen was claiming he’d eaten hot peppers. Jasper snickered to himself as he pulled on his boots, with school on Monday Daylen would likely be trying his hardest to stay out of sight today lest he lose face. As Jasper stepped out of his room he paused and wondered if he had read the time wrong or if the sun was on the wrong side. The sight of Kayad as he leaned against the corridor wall opposite Japers door was that surprising. It was rare for the man to be around in the mornings when he had school let alone on a weekend. “Ah, Hello?” Jasper asked as Kayad straightened away from the wall and nodded. “Going to the shops? Let’s take the car, I’ll drive.” Kayad responded. He was a little dressed up in black slacks and a red dress shirt. It was a good look on him, but it was not what he generally wore around the club. Jasper opened his mouth to comment but was too slow as Kayad turned and headed down the stairs.  With no chance to respond Jasper followed Kayad all the way to the first floor and then out the door to the warehouse behind where the cars were kept. Jasper jogged a few steps to catch up and asked, “Not that I don’t appreciate the company, but you’re quite dressed up and it's not like you to just go to the shops for no reason, so?” “There is a reason. We’ll go to the Arch shopping mall. They'll be plenty to keep you occupied.” Kayad responded as he unlocked a car and slid behind the wheel. Kayad almost immediately started the engine which caused Jasper to climb in quickly buckling his seat built as the car was reversed out of the building. “Arch? But that’s on the other side of the Northbridge district completely?” Jasper said in surprise he had thought that they would just be going to the nearby Bell shopping centre. “Mmm, something to find there.” Kayad headed out as he absently answered. He was clearly focused on getting there. “Besides, it’s the only one where the shops will be open this early.” Once they had gone over the Northbridge, they passed the Bellare Preparatory Academy or BPA as they called it. “Ugh, back to classes on Monday, I’m going to be so bored. Seriously why do we need to do the human courses as well as our own? Whose grand idea was it to have a mixed school anyway. One day one of the normies is going to walk into the wrong class and the whole place will go to hell.” Jasper muttered as he sneered at the school gate. “You underestimate the ability of humans to explain away what they see with the right amount of persuasion. Our people would not have been able to fade into their myths and legends so easily otherwise.” Kayad shifted lanes and turned past the school to avoid the lights on the main road and continued. “Humans are one of the most adapt races at segregating the different, if someone really suggested that there were monsters at the school most would assume, they were being metaphoric over us ‘delinquents’ and at worst would assume that they were just straight up crazy. Don’t borrow trouble, just get the job done. Besides….” Kayad trailed off at the end of his sentence as his lips curved and a gentle warmth entered his eyes. “We’re here.” Kayad abruptly ended the conversation as he pulled the car into a parking spot near the mall and got out. When Jasper had gotten out the car locked and Kayad disappeared. Jasper turned around searching at last spotting Kayad as he entered the side entrance of the mall. Jasper was left behind and just shook his head before he idly headed in. Jasper went first to his favourite merchandise store and examined the new arrivals at last buying a new pendant for his phone from one of his favourite games. As he stepped out of the store, he decided that he would go find some breakfast since he hadn’t eaten before Kayad had decided they were leaving. Yet, when he stepped out of the store a familiar sight greeted him as Kayad stood out the front beside the entrance to the store. “Wow, seriously I’m going to get whiplash with your appearing and disappearing.” Jasper said as he stopped in front of Kayad. “Sorry, was checking something. Come on I’ll buy breakfast as compensation.” Kayad straightened as he spoke and then waved a hand to gesture towards where the food stalls were gathered in the centre of the mall.
