Sorrel dragged the vine as he followed. When the tangled darkness grew, and the shape of the roots changed Sorrel felt them pass between one forest and another. On and on they went until they reached the writhing mass of the vine’s roots. Soaked red and encased in the scent of rotting meat Sorrel tossed the flower into the roots. Instantly the roots grasped the flower and began to consume it. The plant so far gone it could not even tell it was eating itself. Sorrel closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Letting his branches fan out he forced the vine to pull all its roots. When the entire plant was pulled together, he had his branches settle in a cage.
