Nonna Yew 1.8

1055 Words
Sorrel looked up at the imposing building it seemed larger than all the other warehouses in the district and yet it was the one out of all the ones with people with the least amount of people inside. “I’ve just got to go report my test really quick, since the elders will all be sleeping soon.” The sun was only the faintest glimmer on the horizon and while Sorrel’s human form meant he didn’t feel the sway as strongly it would be bad if he didn’t report before everyone else was asleep. Then he’d have to wait until morning before going into the city proper and who knows when he’d be able to go to school then. “Sure, I’ll wait at the entrance.” Jasper said as he stepped to one side and Sorrel in turn crossed quickly across the square. When he reached the fence, Sorrel reached out to grasp the branch of the yew tree that dangled over the side. “Nonna Yew here is Aunt Lata’s seed. No one died so I passed the test can you tell grandpa Oak for me? Also, I left a blossom in the warehouse of the club um joining can you ask Grandad Ash to arrange the renovations? I’ve gotta go help a wolfskin who ate something he shouldn’t have. The branches of the Yew tree rustled before a kind, but tired voice spoke gently to Sorrel. Of course child. I do not know what Oak was thinking with his random challenge it is like all the lessons we gave you were for nothing. That is just how the old i***t plank thinks. I have a care package for you. Branches of the Yew raise on the other side of the fence carrying a belt with several pouches affixed to it that clinked faintly with the movement and a backpack that bulged at the seams. The bag itself is yours but the contents are for young Michael, or should be your Uncle Michael, he will be your guardian amongst the Humans. You will find him at the club he owns called Shattered Senses, heard it is not far over the Northbridge about two blocks from Bellare Preparatory Academy. The belt is for you I put some useful things I made in it just in case you need them. “Thanks, Nonna. Oh, right before I forget did you know that vampires won’t die from poison, even directly ingesting my poison isn’t lethal. After a period of time their body is capable of breaking it down and neutralising it.” All of the leaves of the yew tree rustle at once and a few extra branches crept over the edge of the fence. No, I did not know that. I have not done much study on the younger races. Even the humans have been more a matter of necessity and opportunity. Vampires have only been around for two centuries such children I have not looked into yet. “Hmm, then what about human magic users it seems their power well can at least delay the damage caused by Aunt Lata’s poison or the test might have been a failure before I even started.” Sorrel muttered it was strange the poison was quite quickly deadly on tradition Beastskins and Demonskins not to mention ordinary humans. Fascinating I admit to not taking a great deal of notice. The humans advances in medicine and the magic users' use of alchemy have been keeping my attention. It is nice that there is still so much to discover. I will have to investigate. “Alright, have fun but remember to be subtle or Grandmother Birch will lecture you again.” Old stump she worries too much. Only those of the darker side come through here nowadays. Those sort of folk no one really misses. Sorrel released the yew branch and turned away. He headed back across the square to where Jasper waited by the small entrance to the warehouse. As Sorrel walked, he strapped the belt around his waist. The bag was lifted by his hair until the belt was tied and then he hefted it onto his shoulder. “Okay, I’m ready.” Sorrel said when he reached Jasper. Jasper was staring back across the square but shook his head and focused on Sorrel when he spoke. “Right then, we’ll go in and up to the main floor to see the boss really quick and then go down to Al. they will have put him in one of the holding cells in the basement.” “Sure” Sorrel followed Jasper into the open area of the first floor. Dominated by a large, matted area in the centre the only other feature was the row of motorcycles on the far side. Sorrel took a couple of extra glances at the bikes as they walked across the floor to the stairs that led up to the main floor area. He had seen others using the motorcycles on the roads around the park when he had been allowed near the outer edges and on the south side there was a*****e that sold the vehicles but they fascinated him simply because unlike the steel confinement of a car there was still the feel of the fresh breeze and sun on the bike. As for the matter of danger, really nothing to speak of since most often would still just be blunt force. When they stepped onto the main floor a snide voice sounded from across the room “Finally returned huh? I mean it's not like it is anything important. Just someone life.” Daylen sneered as he looked past Jasper at Sorrel. “Ah, sorry just let me deal with this real quick.” Jasper muttered before leaped across the space by stepping first up onto the small wall to the left and then gliding across to land in front of Daylen. Jasper then hooked his arm around Daylen’s neck and with seemingly no effort at all Jasper proceeded to drag Daylen up the next flight of stairs to the third falls set of suits.
