The Billionaire's Secret

The Billionaire's Secret The estate was silent. Moments ago, hundreds of guards had been prepared to die fighting Umbra. Now the colossal beast rested peacefully beside Alina, its enormous head lying on the grass while she gently stroked the black crystal fur around its ears. The creature closed its amber eyes with complete trust. Not a single guard dared lower their weapon. Martha smiled softly. "I remember that look." Lucien turned toward her. "So do I." For the first time in seven hundred years... hope flickered inside the Obsidian King's heart. --- Suddenly... Umbra growled. Not at anyone nearby. At the sky. His ears flattened. His body became tense. Alina felt it too. The Heart of Obsidian grew warm against her chest. She looked upward. Dark clouds were gathering again. Except... they weren't clouds. Thousands of tiny black drones descended from the sky, moving together like a swarm of insects. EVA's voice echoed through the estate. "Unknown aerial fleet detected." "Total count..." She paused. "...one thousand four hundred and twelve." Kael whistled. "Someone has expensive toys." Lucien frowned. "No." "They're mine." Everyone stared at him. --- The drones stopped high above the manor. Their red lights suddenly turned blue. One by one... they rotated until every camera pointed toward Lucien. Then, in perfect synchronization... they bowed. EVA smiled for the first time. "They recognize their creator." Alina looked at Lucien in disbelief. "You built all of them?" Lucien nodded. "Every satellite." "Every quantum processor." "Every autonomous defense system owned by Vale Dynamics." "They were never designed for business." Kael grinned. "They were built for the next war." --- The swarm shifted. Within seconds, the drones assembled into the shape of a massive raven above the estate. Its wings stretched nearly half a kilometer across the sky. Every employee at Vale Dynamics had seen the silver raven logo. None of them knew... it wasn't just a logo. It was a battle formation. Lucien quietly spoke a single command. "Guardian Protocol." Instantly... the raven scattered into thousands of drones again. Blue beams of light shot downward, forming a shimmering dome around the estate. The entire property disappeared from satellites, radar, and even the naked eye. To anyone outside... Vale Estate no longer existed. --- Alina looked around in amazement. "You've hidden this place from the entire world." Lucien answered simply, "For three centuries." "You've spent all that time preparing for this?" "I've spent seven hundred years preparing." --- Martha approached with a small velvet box. "My King." "I believe it's time." Lucien stared at the box. "I hoped it would never be." He accepted it. For several long moments... he simply held it. Finally, he turned toward Alina. "I've kept this with me every day." He slowly opened the box. Inside lay the same silver ring Alina had seen in her memory. Tiny stars were engraved around its surface. At its center rested a small fragment of black crystal. "My engagement ring," Alina whispered. Lucien nodded. "It survived the fall of the kingdom." She carefully picked it up. The moment it touched her fingers... the ring glowed. Ancient runes appeared around its band. A warm voice echoed softly. "For my Queen..." Lucien froze. He hadn't heard that voice in centuries. It was Aeloria's. --- The ring projected another memory. Not of war. Not of death. Of happiness. Lucien and Aeloria stood on a balcony overlooking the Obsidian Kingdom. Snow fell gently around them. Lucien slipped the ring onto her finger. "There will come a day when I fail you." Aeloria laughed. "You?" "I mean it." She touched his cheek. "Then I'll forgive you." He shook his head. "You won't." She smiled. "I already have." The memory faded. Neither Alina nor Lucien realized they were both crying. --- Kael quietly walked away. For the first time... he felt like an outsider. No throne. No kingdom. No war. Could compete with what they had once shared. --- A sharp alarm interrupted the moment. EVA's hologram flickered. "Emergency transmission intercepted." A live video appeared above the garden. Commander Seraphine stood in the ruins of the northern forest. Behind her... thousands of soldiers waited in formation. She looked directly into the camera. "Lucien Vale." "I know you can hear me." Lucien stepped forward. "I'm listening." "You have twenty-four hours." "Return the Queen." "And surrender the Heart of Obsidian." "Or Beijing will become the first city to fall." The transmission changed. A map of Beijing appeared. Small red dots covered the city. Thousands of them. EVA scanned them immediately. Her voice became grim. "Confirmed." "Every red marker is an antimatter crystal." Silence fell. Alina frowned. "What does that mean?" Lucien answered quietly. "If they're activated..." "There won't be a Beijing left to save." --- Seraphine smiled. "You always cared too much about humans." She looked at Alina. "Your Majesty..." "I know you remember your people." "Now choose." "One ancient king..." "...or twenty-two million innocent lives." The transmission ended. No one spoke. The impossible choice hung in the air. Alina looked at Lucien. His face remained calm. Too calm. She recognized that expression. He had already begun searching for a solution. Even if it meant sacrificing himself. As everyone argued over strategies, she noticed something no one else did. Lucien quietly slipped a small black device into his pocket. EVA detected it but said nothing. The screen beside her displayed a hidden message visible only to Lucien. PROJECT ECLIPSE FINAL PROTOCOL Probability of Survival: 0.3% Lucien closed the notification. If there was no other way to save Beijing... He had already decided whose life would be exchanged for millions of others. And he intended to tell no one.
