Chapter 20 – My Future is You

886 Words
Zac looked on in shock. He had phased, Baden had phased yet somehow from another room this girl got through to him. Brought him back to his senses enough to call him over and managed to get him to phase back. His madness had dissipated, not even dissipated. It was gone. Weak or not, she was it. She was the only person Zac had ever witnessed to stand up and confront or command Baden. Baden was her puppet, to control as she saw fit. Taking one final look at the pair Zac turned exiting following after Alex. Pulling back from the kiss Baden surrounded her little body with his own, holding her with no intention of ever letting go. Slowly as everyone filtered from the room Ian’s voice sounded as he paused in the space, “Alpha, the pack is waiting in the great hall.” Baden turned his burning gaze on Ian with a deathly glare for interrupting. Harshly throwing the words back at him, “then they can wait”. Gemma jumped at Baden’s suddenly outburst. Realising his error he gently moved his hand rubbing her back reassuringly using a gentle tone, “sorry Gem, I shouldn’t have yelled. We don’t have to do this today if you don’t want to.” Ian was left stunned, Baden would cancel the event this close to when technically he was already late. Weighing her options, Gemma was choosing to stay and so she needed to trust in Baden. Putting this off would just cause her anxiety to grow and continue until she was introduced to the pack. The council would just come back if this was put off, whatever was going to happen she needed to face it head on. The sooner the introduction was done, regardless of the outcome the sooner she could get on with her life with Baden. That’s if Baden kept his word and continued to stay by her side. Sensing her determination yet slight hesitation. “Gemma since the first time I laid my eyes on you, god before that. Before I even caught your scent, when I saw you in surveillance video knew I had to protect you. Going to you immediately I can’t even explain what I felt when I found out you were my soul mate. I.. I love you more then… then anything, I can’t imagine, no I won’t have a future without you in it. Gem you are my life and my future.”    Baden continued looking down at Gemma who now had her head buried against his chest. Unable to go another second without seeing her expression Baden kept an arm around her while using his second to gently caress her chin tilting it upwards. Gazes clashing, emotions rose higher as the heat in the room turned to fire burning the oxygen. Gemma curled her hands against his searing abs while continuing to stare directly into his eyes. The heat travelling through his hand caressing her face sent tingles through her body. Voice still timid Gemma slightly smiled,“ well then, lets go.” Eyes glowing red Baden lent down claiming Gemma in his arms holding her ever so tightly. His whole body enveloping hers as she melted against him. “God I don’t want to leave this room right now”, Baden couldn’t resist laying a kiss on her mark. Gemma’s body only having just stopped trembling in anxiety quivered under the contact of his lips which he began trailing down her neck. A loud frustrated groan left Baden as he slowly lowered her to the floor while keeping his arms securely around her. A deep breath leaving his body, Baden lowered his head placing it against her own. “You are my one and only Luna. Do not forget that no matter what is said, I will deal with it.” Intertwining their hands Baden pulled back standing straight slamming her tightly into the side of his body protectively as he led her towards where the door used to be. Awkwardly Baden mumbled, “I’ll.. er, get that fixed.”    Walking down the corridor and down the stairs Baden could feel Gemma’s heart rate accelerate as he continued to lead her to the hall, where the pack waited along with Misty and the council. Instinctively Baden tightened his grip for a second, “it’s going to be fine Gem”. His husky voice full of confidence and reassurance. Closer and closer they got to the hall. Chatter, yelling, confrontation were sounding loudly from the other side of the double doors of the hall. Keeping Gemma securely by his side Baden lifted a foot kicking the doors in the centre of their meeting point. The doors both swung inwards crashing into the walls on either sides of the hall as the hinges whined. The once loud hall came to silence in the blink of an eye as bodies stiffened reflexively. Baden still with Gemma in his arms moved forward towards the two thrones on the front platform. An aura of coldness surrounded them projecting harshly from Baden across the room causing most to bow their head in submission. Gemma lifted her head to look at the platform where stood Jariah, Misty, Ian, Zac and a few others she assumed to be members of council. Misty’s face carried a triumphant smirk directed at Gemma. Fury from Baden flooded the bond as she felt his body tense in anger.
