Chapter 39 - Slipping Away

940 Words
A ripping pain tore through Baden’s body as the bond between him and Gemma flexed and stretched growing weaker by the second. “GEMMA”, Baden bellowed as his body convulsed against the sheets. The pain was unexplainable, unfathomable, it was excruciating. Crawling to the edge of the bed, Baden tried to find footing on the floor, but ended up falling to the ground. Tears in his red eyes, as uncontrollable emotion flowed through him. Baden’s body continued to shake as a coldness gripped the very fibre of his being. The physical pain completely vanished in an instant, but so did Gemma. The bond to the pack, the mate bond between them, it completely shattered. The thousands of pieces in his mind evaporating to nothing. Baden inwardly searched for a bond, a lifeline, a heartbeat, but it was gone.. just like Zac’s. Gemma was gone. Ian watched Baden as his body slowly rose off the floor. Eyes glowing blood red as his body started shifting. Claws lengthening, they dug into the floor cracking the wooden boards under the carpet. A murderous aura unlike any other filled the room, Baden was gone, his eyes showing no signs of humanity. There was no longer a Baden, but a bringer of death. Those two women would suffer endlessly, there would be no escape. Baden felt his whole world shatter with the breaking of his bonds. Zac a wolf he had known since birth, Gemma, she was his world, his everything. Picturing her form straining against the restraints while burning on the table of silver, his wolf clawed through his mind. His claws ripped at the insides of his mind, attacking all emotions. No sadness, no despair, no mercy only rage and revenge would drive him forward. There was no room for any other emotion, to let in the sadness was to self-destruct. That could not happen until he had revenge, until he held his little Gem in his arms. He needed to see her at least one last time, her little body that seemed to calm him at a single touch, word, breath. Baden’s wolf split viciously through his skin with so much force that the widow vibrated violently, cracking down the centre branching out to facture the whole pane. Smashing straight through the wall next to it, Baden took the two story drop with ease. Breaking into a sprint Baden’s wolf was demanding blood, pushing him forwards as the saliva dripped from his jagged teeth. His venomous snarls filling the forest as he moved with agility. Rocky Mountains Pack would shake under his paws. Amelia and Alicia would die agonizing deaths in his hands, they would pay for the rest of their lives. Baden only prayed his wolf didn’t take it too far and kill them, they deserved to suffer like Zac and Gemma suffered. They deserved to live long pain filled lives of nothingness. ******** Ian collapsed to the floor, feeling the loss of Zac and his Luna crash through himself and the pack. Pressing the dial button he clutched at his chest as it rung. On the second ring Alex answered promptly, “Ian this better be good, I’m conducting a search after a tip of information.” Ian struggled for breath at the pain of the pack that was crushing his chest. Still clutching on to it with force as if stabbed through the heart with a sharp blade. “Alicia, Alicia had Gemma and Zac the whole time.” As if unsure if Alex would believe him and unsettled by the silence on the other end of the line, Ian released a deep breath. Providing evidence between his struggling breaths, “Vision linked to see her, Baden is on route.. don’t approach him. He has given up control.” Alex had frozen on the spot, listening to every word as a darkness seeped into his mind. Smashing his phone down into the desk, pieces of plastic splintered in all directions. Anger surfaced, burning through every inch of his body as concern flooded his senses. Using his bond to connect with Alicia, Alex slipped inside her mind to find a barrier up. Using force, he crashed against her barrier. It was known using force, especially a large amount could destroy a mind. Alex would risk it.. mate or not.. he didn’t care. She had a hand in his sisters abduction, she would pay. Right now he needed to focus, reigning in his deep rage, he had to find Gemma before it was too late. Alicia had the answers, her whereabouts, and he would get it no matter the cost. He would kill Alicia with his bare hands, he just needed to be given the chance. His wolf would relish in it. Some mates were just not right, never had he felt anything for her other than annoyance and disgust. Berating her mind he could feel her pain as he ravaged her repeatedly for answers. She continued to resist as he repeatedly crashed against the shield in her mind. Alex felt regret in his heart, regret for being guilty for marking her the way he had, now he just wished he had hurt her more. Bruised and ripped her flesh, goddess.. she deserved worse and he would give it to her. Hey guys I hope you enjoy the chapter.
